SXR How Lose The Most Weight Possible From Stock Hull

SXR How Lose The Most Weight Possible From Stock Hull

That is a lot but like forever said there may be water in your box. 30lbs I don't think so maybe 3-5. Do you have a fire extinguisher under the hood? As for the rear styrofoam mine was slightly damp but the water it held was negligible.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =...

SXR How Lose The Most Weight Possible From Stock Hull

I saw your build on PWC. WOW, great stuff! When you glassed your hood how many layers did you use? How many on the rear deck? How did you attach the hood to the ski? I saw a x-drilled pin in 1 of your pics. Did you make a special bracket on the hood that mounts over that pin and then strap it...

Hood strap kits, Hood Hooks, Hood latches, Hood parts, Hood seals, Limiting rope kits

I'm doing a rebuild on my SXR to lighten the weight. I lightened the hood and dicovered that the hardware really weight quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone has run the straps without the front hooks. If the 2 front straps were mounted close to the hood would it stay in place? To clarify, if...

SXR How Lose The Most Weight Possible From Stock Hull

Well 5lbs max is substantial but the work/weight ratio is terrible. It must be done though. I got plans for every bracket and tab on the motor. I'm just tossing around any idea to save weight.

That Rail !!!!! Ok I will trim the back off but leave the sides. I was thinking the " wat u ma'callit " .... rear fin for lack of a better word. Where the footholds go. When I removed the rubber caps, there was a hump on top and I'll remove that when I cut into the tray.

SXR How Lose The Most Weight Possible From Stock Hull

I was goimg to cut the rail flat since I'm already gutting the glue out the back. What would be the reason not to cut them. Also lowering the hood so it's flush when I remove the nose plate. I going so far that I'm considering grinding all the gelcoat and resin from beneath the hull and just...

SXR How Lose The Most Weight Possible From Stock Hull

Even thought there is a lot of glue it really doesn't weight that much. I spent most of tonight cutting out the front. Got most of the large pieces but it's less than 2 lbs so far. I still have a large piece up front and the back will get done too. :-):-):-):-) load of work for 5 lbs.

SXR How Lose The Most Weight Possible From Stock Hull

Here are some pics just starting to tear down the ski. I'm sure there is no surprise as to the amount of glue inside the hull. What is the best way to remove the glue? I have an air die grinder with good bits but I tried a little and it's slow. I was thinking scoring it with a small 2" circular...

SXR How Lose The Most Weight Possible From Stock Hull

Yesterday I started on a huge project to see how much weight I can cut, grind, throw away or buy cheap. I already have a modded ski so my total stock weight is unknown but I'll just keep track from now on. Here's what I have now Wetpipe, A/M spark arrestor, TTL flywheel, Dakine footstraps, bilge...

Surfriding Anyone convert a standup hull to a trailer to haul extra fuel?

How about an old white water kayak. Gut the inside and modify the skirt so it becomes a cover. You can get a Perception Dancer cheap Streamline and watertight.

    SXR Carb Boring

I was reading on GroupK site that they recommend the carb be bored to a true 40mm. Do they just take out the step @ the venturi. Is it actually bored or do they do it with a porting tool. I'm assuming that the entire step is removed taking care not to touch the bomb sight. Anyone had this mod...
