You can take the AL boaters test on-line, have the book open while taking it. They will mail you a certificate that you can take to the DMV, Alabama State Troppers, pay the troppers like $5 and then have it added to your DL for around $20.

Why couldn't you use the same registration number? Didn't the state know the old registration number?

Have you tried disconnecting the lines and making sure that there's not somthing blocking them. You could also try bypassing the overheat sensor. I disconnect mine on my old ski.

The last time that I saw you ride a standup at lanier you didn't get too far, only like 25 ft.
