another couple options:

I've got a friend that regularly travelss between Picayune, MS and Crystal Beach. I'm sure he'd bring it if I asked and if you can get it to Picayune (about 1 hr north of New Orleans)

another friend may be headed to Jackson MS to pick up a 4-wheeler. He may be able to transport it - but not sure when or if he's going.

and finally - another friend is currently working in NC, and drives home every 2-3 weeks. He may able to pick it up and bring it in - and B'ham is on the way.

Quick question for The Texas Crew. What does your state require for registration? Alabama just requires a Bill of Sale. Thanks

does AL issue titles?

if so, he will need the signed title and a completed TX title transfer form (that must be signed by the seller as well)

we do not need bill of sale here as that information goes on the transfer form and both parties sign it.

if all ya'll have is a registration, then he still needs the same transfer form and a tracing of the VIN plate.

In Alabama we just need a Bill of Sale and Old registration to register it.

AL doesn't Title ATV's or PWC's. hmm... I will see what I can do on my end as far Title paper work.

hey Cat, if the ski comes from out of state then Bill of Sale only............

kinda of reminds me of something, back about 16 years ago I bought a 550 from Dunnavants, they had removed the stock graphics and registration, so the State issued me new numbers, when I sold the ski back to Dunnavants a year or so later, Brian called me saying the new owner was having a hell of a time registering it, the VIN number was showing up with 2 registration numbers assigned to it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why couldn't you use the same registration number? Didn't the state know the old registration number?

If you settled on an okay price for the ski (I'm sure you did) why not ship it?

I know crating is a pain, and YamaCAT will have to have access to a loading dock (proabably does).

Freight on the ski won't be much. Should be under $300. $300 kind of offsets the driving time and gas spent. I know my time is worth more than $21/hour.

If you work that much, you must have money. Ship that bad boy.

Enjoy the ski. It looks very clean, perfect aftermarket hull donor!

Gentlemen, Thanks for your input, but QuickMick and I have a solution. Fortunately fellow skiers are going to help us out to make this happen.:Banane01::Banane01::Banane01::Banane01:

As far as the registration, I asked the question so I could put the information required by TX on the Bill of Sale to make it easier for the Buyer. I know how it is to stand in line to register a boat, only to get to the window, and have the clerk tell you to go back because you don't have all the required documents. Better to ask the questions now, then to find out later the hard way.:banghead:

States that issue titles for PWC (like TX) have different requirements than states that only register them.

If we call TPWD and tell them "I am buying a PWC from out of state", and what state it is coming from...they tell us what specific pieces of paper we have to have. In this case - the list I posted above.

True, I work 5 days a week. Working that much when do you plan to ride it?

Oh I will ride it, I live 2 mins from the water.

Thanks Barb I dont want to pay 3 bills when plan A sounds like a good plan to me. Just so I have it a few weeks before the Sept ride, is ok with me.

Shawn, if your friend can actually pick up the ski from Barb (at her town) without her having to drive hours or so to meet your friend. Let me know. That may be better for everyone.

I bought a out of state ski and Im sure Penguin is correct on all the above.
I know a pencil tracing will be needed, and the out of state registration card.
Also a Bill of sale stating price, hin # and signatures.

Well I hate reviving this thread, but I'm not able to drive yet and my husband is working. Is anyone going through Birmingham toward Orange Beach before August 23? That has room for a ski?
