My first SXR 800...Looking for ideas/info for aftermarket intake for 2008 model.

So I'm a chick and just bought my first standup ski. I have a 2008 SXR 800 and I just ordered an aftermarket bilge, but also was looking for an aftermarket intake grate. The stock one I'm unable to really get my hand into and get anything out if I do happen to take in something other than lake water. Not sure what to look for or order. Ideas or suggestions? All my friends ride superjets so please fellow Kawi people, help a girl out!

Just look for a used one on here...place an ad in the classified. They all work great...but the ski really sticks to the water. (Not good if you want to slide around), but if your just mostly rippin around and not racing, I doubt you'll notice the difference in any of the aftermarket ones...

TBM or Skat intake.

I second the TBM intake grate and the would add the ride plate as well. I have both and its a good set up for freeriding, I can hit waves and boat wakes and carve it up as well. They may be pricey new, like said above keep an eye on ebay, pwctday for sale section and c-list.

I got Works intake and D-cut stock rideplate. Work perfect.

I really prefer the STOCK intake grate and a cut STOCK rideplate for an SXR...lets it slide around a little bit.

If it's your first standup save the $$, buy some extra fuel and ride. I'm still running the stock grate and I have run over plenty of stuff, In many repects I think the stock intake grates do a better job keeping the pump clean than aftermarkets.

A scoop grate will help keep your pump loaded up in choppy water and also help to stick in the corner. If you like to slide around or are still building turning skills then stick with stock. I use a stainless steel Skat Trak and have been very happy with the performance. I chose SS b/c I like the extra weight low in the hull. But most scoop grates will be very close to one another.

Stock ride plates are the best, extended for faster setups is what I have been running. Tried many but went back to extended stockers. For an intake there is only one IMO, and that is the Skat Trak stainless. Loads the pump nicely to keep you hooked up without being too agressive and losing top speed.

Good first post and I agree.

The R&D Stealth is probably the best for loading the tunnel.
