You'd think the smart money would be on the Pipe, after all it is metal. What ever Yamaha makes there tanks out of is some good stuff!

I had a piece of turf in there also but with all my reinforcing its tight! The turf wedged in there doesn't last too long. I invent new cuss words every time I have to pull my tank. I've been running it like this, watching it slowly grind away for over three years now so I'm actually not complaining. I guess I'm just going to keep running it as it is (after I get the pipe re-welded of course!) when the tank goes I'll just buy another one, they're not to expensive. I hope I catch it before it turns into an SJ motoff cocktail!

Gotta glue the turf to the tank....................Mine kept coming out until I prepped the tank and glued it, now its money!

On a side note, I plugged a cooling line w/o knowing (pipe screw I think, as it was pissing fine) and it started to melt the tank, but did no damage. I thought sure it was a goner!

You are correct, that is some bad stuff they use!
