Waterproof Bags

Who all uses waterproof bags to keep their license and registration and other items dry? I had a "waterproof" bag i bought from gander mountain last year and I kept it in my extinguisher box, and at the end of the season I took it out to only find my license ruined and my registration unreadable because the waterproof bag AND ziplock bag didnt work. Yes thats right, my license\reg inside a ziplock inside a waterproof bag inside a fire extinguisher compartment didnt work:thumbsdown: This year Im getting both laminated for safety.

Who all has had good results with what waterproof bags? I remember seeing one at a boat show they put in a fish tank with an Iphone in it running the timer on the iphone, forgot which brand though.

I used 2 Zip lock bags to store COPIES of my registration and DL license.
I carry them in one of my Fuel tank straps. Never had an issue with them.

I got in trouble for having copies of my license and reg. So just be careful luckily it was at the ramp and he allowed me to goto the truck to get the real deals.

I use small plastic container with a screw top, like a pill bottle.

Get them laminated. Hopefully the lamination will keep the water out. Mine comes laminated.

What's this about a license anyways? In my state, they only require a boating license if you're a whipper snapper. :biggrin:

If you want to keep something dry, put it in a bag strapped on your tank or battery. If you put it in a bag in a container that MAY get water in it, water will get in the bag. Don't even think about considering taking any type of electronics in your ski that isn't already waterproof. It will get ruined.

Some states do not allow you to laminate registration...why i don't know..but it does say it right on the reg. card.

I am only 15. I only have to carry my real license next year when i get it.

Thats strange about them not letting you laminate it. I like the pill bottle idea, where do you store it?

Just get you a small dri-box. You can strap it under your gas tank strap, between the tank and strap. It should stay fairly dry there and will hold in place.

I just had my registration laminated for 70 cents at Fed-Ex Kinko's and use the small Pelican waterproof box for other stuff.
