Maybe when l do mine,l'll try to roll the pad over the edge to help.l like your stainless strip to hold the pad in place.

My original plan was to overlap the padding in the back but when I laid it down, it just didn't work out that way so I was forced to add a thin strip across the back. That was probably the biggest issue. I have been debating drilling out those rivets, cutting the turf a few inches up the tray, installing something like a kick tail, and splicing new turf back in.

Hey, may have figured out your vibration. I was driving to Paul's this morning to pick up my motor and something got me thinking about it. Your pipe may be hitting the bed plate. At lower RPM you may be getting enough vibration to cause it to hit. At higher RPM's the motor smooths out and the pipe does not hit anymore. I had this happen years ago after I put the chamber back in. Just rotate the pipe counter clockwise some and see if that corrects it.

Thanks for thinking about this BK. I have not solved my vibration problem yet. I know it's not the pipe hitting the bedplate. The waterbox sits so high in the nose that I can get my entire hand between the pipe and the engine mount. I have to pull the engine to fix my fuel tank mount so I'll certainly be looking over everything carefully to see what could be causing it.

Well it's very clear that I have ADHD extremely bad. I pulled the motor today did a couple little things with the intention of installing trim but ended up doing nothing on my "to do list". However, I'm trying to fabricate a carbon fiber gas tank right now. All the panels are curing right now but they are just rough estimates right now. I'll have to trim and potentially add more later to make them all fit together. I started to try and maximize all the space I had until I realized that all the space I had was going to give me close to 7 gallons so I backed off on the complex panels and went flat. Should still be around 5 or more but we'll see once it's all together.

I just know that kart tank is going to annoy the crap out of me. Typically I'll burn through 4-5 gallons on a nice day. In a kart tank, that means at least 3 fill ups which also means 3 potential swims if I'm not paying attention to the gas level since I don't have a reserve on that tank.

Fuel tank on hold. I need to get my fiberglass back from sportfish to finish it up. Here is my trim system. I really didn't have a plan and with multiple ideas for a few minutes and then landed on this. I bought a cable, steering cable extender, and cable stop from protec. I was so happy with this idea that I didn't think about it like I normally do and just went for it. It's so simple but I've never seen it done before so hopefully I didn't overlook anything.

The cable stop is threaded so I just drilled a hole in the nozzle flange, countersunk for a flush screw, and screwed it together. The bolt was sliced in half so the cable could go through it. Sorry if it's hard to see the black on black.

Trim installed. It steers a little to the right when I pull the lever and it doesn't look like it's got a whole lot of throw even though I ground down a lot of stuff to get it that far.

I fixed the edge on the turf that put me out of commission but it didn't come out very well. I cut and lined up the two edges of the turf so it's be hard to notice. Then when I pulled the turf around the back edge, it pulled apart so far that I was forced to add another small piece of turf so I have two seams now...fantastic.

I'm about to install the Shifty switch on my total loss.

Got my Shifty TL module in as well. NO MORE SWITCHES FOR ME!! There was a little confusion about the wiring but I called Shifty about it and he cleared everything up.

On an unfortunate note... I did extensive work in tracking down the grinding noise while I had the engine out but it's still present. I replaced the midshaft and cut the hole for the driveshaft a little bigger in the bulkhead to see if that was it. Rerouted the cables, ensured clearance for all cooling lines that were close to something, added extra padding on the waterbox, added padding between pipe chamber and bed plates, added padding between chamber and hull, and it's still there. Although it sounded a little different when I put the turf around the chamber. Hopefully I can put it in the water tomorrow and find out for sure.

Maybe... That's the one I originally bought. It's had quite a few holes and corners cut off the mounting plate since then. To be totally honest, I can't remember why the corners were cut off but it was to clear something at some point. I think I put it on the 750 first but not sure. I think that was the one I bought off wetjet701 and yoinked out from under you.

Lost interest in the homemade fuel cell. The drag fuel tank I bought would work perfectly if it was mounted upside down... but that won't work. I've got a pretty good idea on how to make the fittings work but I need the 3-bond I ordered first. The kart tank is back in the hull right now.

the noise will go away if you grease the muffler bearings.

Seriously though, I can't believe you haven't found the culprit yet. I bet the noise is going to be something stupid when it finally rears its head.
