Why do you want to change it to a single setup?
Are you having trouble with the dual setup?

You will lose power if you do go to a single carburetor.

Singles can work and work well. But who did your porting? I would stick with what they recommend.

You dont see Xscream setting up their ski's with singles. Jetworks does not spec singles on their builds. Kommander does not spec singles. Thrust on the other hand will spec a setup using a single. This is similar to Rick Roys setups that TLR use to do for him. TLR build his motor packages around the single but it worked.

dual works great

i was remember from the past
i had discuss with blowsion and he adviced me to use single carb into my 61x for freestyle because with single carb : the carb needs "lower " air to work and the carb drinks lower water , with single carb you have better result
i used single carb blackjack 44 into my ex superjet 730cc riva cylinders stock stroke ,b pipe mod ,ada head,v-force3,light jetinetics etc and the jet was very strong for 730cc
now i am using dual 38cc i don;t see different i think single was better

If you had 61x cases then yes, single is the best way to go. Those cases can only flow so much air.

If your running your stroker on 38's that is risky. Yes, it will work, but you would be better off finding a good set of 44's or larger.

As to that link to that setup.
That is the setup that Thrust Innovations ie Virgin uses. Which is similar to the TLR setup that Rick Roy use to run. It does work well. But you can only flow so much through a single carb.

I have ridden that exact engine you linked to, it was by far the most powerful engine I have ever pulled the throttle on. It was installed in a lightweight hull, but still, incredible power. My engine runs great now with duals, but after riding his, I can't imagine that a properly tuned single would ever hold MY engine back. Granted mine is stock other than boring and porting, but you get my point. That setup that Virgin hooked yz250pilot up with is INSANE.

People that think singles work as well as dual's don't understand the concept of plenum length and carb signal.

Keep the duals and keep the smile on your face. Run outerwears to keep excess water out, or get a cool set of carb risers from Thrust to run oem airboxes.
