Stamped numbers on carb bodies...

Guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone has any solid info on what the numbers mean that are stamped on the side of the carb bodies on SBN carbs?

From what I have read, these numbers correspond to the internal circutry and also the place of origin for the particular carb.

I have rung around a few places, and nobody seems to be able to to tell me exactly what these numbers mean. The only reason I am asking this question is that I have a set of dual 38's that have been confirmed to be oem carbs off my ski when it was purchased new, but the numbers on the carbs are different. The ski always ran great with these carbs and I never had any problems at all.

Would there be a list that exists that has all the properties of each carb that was manufactured with all the different numbers and place of origin? It sure would be handy.

Cheers.

They have...

..8...............8
8..2............8..1

64U............64U
01F............01R

These numbers tell me that they are carb 1 and 2, and Front and Rear.

With this is mind, do the numbers, etc still have somethinkg to do with internal circuitry?

i think the first give away is the linkage between the two throttle shafts and a choke, aftermarket versions i don't think come with a choke
