I made a ramp with roller-blade wheels to reduce the friction. All you need is that and a handful of throttle. I can get mine up into the back of my F250 which has the offroad kit (more suspension travel) with no problem at all, and it's long way up there!

i wouldnt. ever try to unload a ski into the water from a high cart. its not pretty. loading it onto the cart isnt so easy either if its a high cart. those fatass tires are VERY bouyant.

....unless youre talking about a shop stand.
Thats for his house. you dont need one at the ramp:rolleyes: . Also I never see people pulling beach carts up a hill alone

I am supprised no one has warned you about getting the axles on your truck submerged in the water. You are begging for trouble. If water leaks past the seals you will burn up your rear end on you truck unless it is made for being submerged.

Get a trailer........
Its fine if you dont submerge the axle past the vent if it has one which is usually on the very top. If water is leaking past his seals he has bigger problems anyway

those are cool...except i dont know how one person goes about getting it up there. plus its not really a straight push or pull from the water, but perpendicular.

ummm you just back into the water and ride your ski on.....not hard my friend. not at all.

just clarifying:rolleyes:

and ive never seen anyone doing a headstand in an elevator full of pregnant ducks in raincoats.

:dunno:
Not sure what that comments about but like the post said by himself!!! It usually takes two or more people to pull a beach cart with a ski out of the water. As a matter of fact in ten plus years of riding I dont think I have ever seen one person pull a ski up a ramp by themselfs with a beach cart. Not to say it cant be done but why? A beach cart does have a purpose the beach where the sand is to soft to back to the water and you better bring some friends. I have used the bed of my truck for years and never had problems.

i do it all the time. its not hard to put a ski on a beachcart and haul it up the beach alone unless youre a wuss.
HMMM didnt see you doing it at lanier? A ramp is steeper than the beach and so is the shore at most lakes. If I remember it took like three to to four people with the beach carts there. Guess I'm just a wuss:biggrin:

I unload and load my ski into my F150 all the time. Yes, I can drag it up a ramp, lake shore or large gopher hill myself no problem.
:crutches:

It's all about the kind of cart you have, and more importantly, the kind of tires on the cart.

I saw a guy use a winch connected to back wall of the bed of the truck. He just hooked the ski up, used the remote on the wench and helped lift the back of the ski when the tail started to want to hit the concrete. I imagine you could figure out how to do it also with a non-electrical wench.

I used to use a winch, but you don't need it - that's what the throttle is for! I must admit that I grabbed a bit too much today, and now the toolbox in the back of the truck is a slightly different shape than its original design...

I just remembered, the guy I go riding with puts the nose of the ski on the dock at the launch ramp at our local harbor. He gases it up onto the dock, drags it up the dock a little, then pulls his truck the correct spot on the dock to slide in the back of his pickup.

I have an electric winch for that very reason. My setup is based off of your design, not nearly as impressive, but it definitely gets the job done. I bought a cheap winch off of jaymax.com... it was only 100 bucks for a 2500lb w/remote and goodies. Works great.

I'd like a cart for myself but only for when driving in beach sand that is to soft .
Get a trailer man .I have one that folds up and takes up a 8 x 8 area in my garage with 2 ski's on it .About the same as 2 carts with 2 ski's side by side .
Save your energy for riding not lifting and dragging your ski around
