While a lot of you guys were in Daytona the Oceanside crew and friends headed down to Mexico and rode one of the West Coasts premier big wave spots on Todos Santos Island. The surf was a couple of feet to double overhead which is small for Todos but it was still super fun. The weather was perfect and there were no paddle or tow surfers there at all so every one scored some great waves. Super big props to Ross Champion who put this trip together. Enjoy!

Man, super nice video, you captured it good w/ the camera, you focused on the other riders, not just looking down at the water the whole time. Not many people make it down to Todos, that is awesome! Not too many stunts though? just wave riding?

One of the very nice things everyone has always expressed is how great it is to ride with (and watch) a top rider such as Ross, and that it is rare to be able to participate with such in other sports. Multitudes of riders of all levels came together to share and support the freeride spirit in Daytona this year, and it was disappointing that he (you and friends as well) was not present. Hopefully next year things will be different. Mexico looked lovely, and I hope everyone had an excellent time…you were all truly missed; you did a great job filming as always too John. :wavey:

This trip ended up being the cover story in one of the Japanese magazines. I've posted the scans for people to take a look at. A huge congrats to Chris Rosner and Matt Smith - both getting their first cover shots with this.

Take a look at the link, more pictures and high res copies here.

Also, Chris Rosner has some great pictures up at his facebook gallery from the trip. (not sure if he has it public or not)

'Tis the season! Todos Santos island only works on big W/NW swells which start showing up right about now. It's actually fairly easy to catch some pretty big surf out there for those who go the lengths required to get there. The trick is to catch it without any tow surfers so we're not fighting over it, since it's a one spot take off wave. I'm down for another run, the last trip was pretty much the best free ride I've ever been on!
