I think the bigger advantage is to help stop pearling. I don't think it's going to do much for flipping.

makes u recovery easier from a BF, and in the surf will help keep the nose from dive in the wave when u surfing, i got a new hull been made as we speak with same nose

I believe Rick is referring to re-entry from a flat water flip. With the nose there, when the nose hits the water the lip could cause the nose to dive deeper into the water, with the nose removed, when it hits the water it may aid in getting the ski "flat" out or to level out once you hit the water.

I destroyed the nose of my ski on a backflip to sandbar. The front rail was so mangled I just cut it off also. I wanted to make a surf bomber strong repair also. I thought it was easier to run the cloth from top to bottom without the rail there, similiar to x2addict's build thread.

I did a quickie glass job in/out so I could ride the surf next day. I thought it might also be a nice mod for the surf.

It makes the nose ride looser when you are surfing a wave in. It is kind of hard to describe but I can slide the nose more while carving a wave now. The nose of the ski is looser in the water. Also you can drive the nose deeper before pearling. I can pull the nose out of a pearl easier also, but at times it seems to pearl easier. Finally, it is easier to pull out of a nose stab or slightly under rotated backie now. Drawback is more spray over the bow.

I have been thinking about a deflector or something to stop this.

All the below are exactly what I was thinking, even "spray over the bow.". Makes your ski a little more purpose built and a little less everyday rider friendly. But all of these new HIGH $$$$ hulls are purpose built.

No ones ragging on you brotha, your just getting the feedback you asked for. Did you mean only positive in agreeance feedback? I don't care what you do to your ski, your the one who has to ride it. Go ahead a do it and report back to us on how it handles.

i didn't cut off the nose. all i have to do to it is reinforce the other side and pop the motor in...after that its done.

Yes this makes sense and is what I said in post #10. The original opening statement said a surf flip.
