With everyone always looking to go bigger then a 701 right out of the box with a superjet do you think yamaha will every bump up the 701 to a 760 from the factory. Would it really be that much trouble for yamaha to change to a 760 61x cylinder setup? I think this would also help compete with people who are all about numbers. Right now if someone who doesnt know any better looks at the two stand ups today a superjet 701 and a sxr 800 you think the bigger 800 must be better.

The 62T based 760 would be very easy to do in production since we do it ourselves all the time, although it doesn't perform near as well as a stock 61x 701 without a decent amount of porting. A 61x based 760 with dual 38mm carbs would be an all win, no loss setup in my book.

No, Yamaha did not do that. Rius Racing offered a series of custom built SJ's through their shop. They started with standard 701 SJ's and did all the work to them.

You sure about that?
Yamaha Europe offered the Rius Edition in 2006 which came with a 760.
Rius Racing helped, but Yamaha offered it as a regular model for sale.

I would like to see yamaha come up like with a sleeve like the northwest big bore sleeve for the 61x cylinders. That mixed with a better carb setup from the factory would rip!

The Yami 701 and Kawi 750 motors have been around forever, even the kawi 800 is not new. Its time for both Kawi and Yamaha to step it up to a 1000cc in there standups. I know Dasa has a 1000cc set up but a 1000cc from the factory with factory reliability-that's what I'm talking about!

They have no incentive to do so.
Do all that for the couple hundred new ski sales annually?

True, but it does seem like a natural transition that should have happened years ago...BNG and hey, 59 more cc's. They added quite few little touches to the + 08's, 59cc's sure would have rounded out that package nicely.

ur right. as far as i knew the only thing Rius did was put his name on the ski. everthing else was yamaha factory. i know of some that were purchased in europe and sent overseas. under the hood was a 760, but it was stock yami.

Yes that is what I am saying. The stuff they added to the 08 was just as much work and not much more of a selling point then adding a bigger motor.

I don't know about that. They just added some sponsons and set the pump back a little. Not all that much testing involved there.
The pole setup was not new, just the old setup from the FX1.

A bigger motor would require quite a bit more testing, I think. Will the driveline hold up to the added power? Will the impeller need to change?
Are the motor mounts good enough?
Exhaust?
Carbs?

Shouldn't they already have the motor R&D done from the Rius model? I'd think building a new hull mold would be a lot more expensive than using an existing engine platform and designing an impeller that would work well with the 760.

X2, I think the new prop design and a 760 (and some decent turf) would have been a better change than the new hull design BNGs and blurple paint.

I can't believe they are still producing a Superjet. With only a couple hundred a year being sold, they can't be making much on them.

They keep saying I cant belive they are selling superjets but the just changed the design in 08. The put some sponsons on and set the pump back which had to be some work to do rather just pumping out the same ski from the year before and calling it a year newer. I am just saying if someone that doent know much about skis walks into a dealer and the dealer says "This year then added sponsons and set the pump back" a lot of people would say oh ok. If you told them "They added a bigger motor this year" I would think would be a much better selling point.
