I sold my team scream sj this year, and I am wanting to build something in the next year again. I am looking into building a EME q8. I"m just a rec rider who rides flat water. The stock engine eme with pump and pipe is pretty impressive. I have never ridden a sxr motor just yamis.. I know eme makes both platforms yami or kawi.. I'm not sure what is the best platform to start with 701 or 800?

if your going to run the mag pump (142) you might as well run the superjet motor in it as your going to have to get ride of a pump and hull if you tore down a kawi anyway....from my experience all you need when building a q8 from yamaha you need to convert

midshaft
Driveshaft
steering cable and turnplate...(right side to left)
couplers
Kawi pump /mag
and end nozzle
Kart tank
small battery

most these parts can be had through eme but if you have access to them go for it

everything else from a sj bolts right up
Motor
Bpipe

Ported 701 with a bpipe and stock carbs ada head will have plenty for a backy

Not sure if you can use the yamaha pump yet or if the hull can be setup for use of yamaha pump.

Probably meaning its compatible for yamaha motors, kawi motors, and polaris motors.

Mag pumps are 1000-1400ish range with prop i believe
then trim can be 500-700

maybe by the time your ready to build a hull it may be compatible for that pump

if i were you...call eric and talk to him

Your choice in pumps will be as important as the engine. Hopefully the hull has a superjet pump setup. As far as the engines, a 701 will have to be ported to make the same power as a stock 800. After that the 800 has better response on pump gas with the stock ignition.

that looks like a tight fit on that b pipe!

thats actually the longest bpipe you can get...the one done by xmw with the new end put on

its a limited chamber and yes there is a stock waterbox up there

If I were to build a Kawi 800 motor, I'd take a good hard look at Kommander Ind. (Steve Webster, formerly of JSU).
I'd also consider Jetworks just because I am happy with the SJ motors he's done for me in the past.

so if I buy a eme q8

stock for stock what motor would hold the best bang

800
or
701

both running a b pipe.
