i'v been reading up on a few threads about this.

i'm looking to get my work done by paul, but trying to deside what to do.
i'm adventualy looking to get into freestyle comps, and join everyone at the local east coast "freshwater" rides. however i just bent a rod and need my cylenders bored, new pistons, gaskets, crank, exc.. so i was thinking why not just bump to the next level and save money in the long run.

i can go the cheater route and buy a 760 cylinder and have it FS ported
or i can get my 82mm 701 resleaved to accept the bigbore sleaves.

how much "HIT" differeance is it... everyone is saying about 10-15% power differeance, but i only care about the HIT, has anyone rode both setups?

If you go either way, you are going to have to have your cases bored out to accept the larger sleeves.......

You have a good port setup already, why spend hundreds of extra dollars for something you do not need...............

When you get to the point of doing double troubles and you dont have the power to complete the second one, that is when you need to look into more power..............

See my Avatar? that is a 701 bored up to 83mm from several pistons being distroyed (seized, etc.... bent rods, etc)......... If you go to the limit, then you stick one piston, you will have to start all over again......... your motor right now makes more power that you can use.........

think i do... but since i need to get a new crank, bore my cylinders, buy new pistons, and re gasket the entire thing.. might as well spend just a little bit more and not upgrade later...

rebuild, then ride........FORGET WRENCHING...........

are you THAT good of a rider that youve already outgrown a ported 701? (not trying to be rude, but BK's right......the 701 puts out PLENTY enough..)

idk if i'm "that good" ...just what i had b4 my ski went all to ********, did not seem like it was hitting. more of a delayed 2 second windup takeoff...
i was on a RIVA FS ported, 82mm 701 33cc domes. 155psi. Bpipe, carbon reeds, RAD flywheel, dule 44s. and i feel like i need more power, just never hit.
think kahuna rode the ski b4 i bough it.. what did you think?

2second wind up is too much and 155 seems low. People are doing so much with 701 engines...Ratti and marsh doing Double Ts alot...etc. It should be PLENTY enough power for you. It just wasnt setup right or something. That "little more" extra is really ALOT extra. Somehting like $1200 not including the crank.....crank, bore, pistons....and youd be fine

kinda reminds me of you 2 years ago!!!!!!

I havent installed something I havent used:sneaky:

Well except that hood....only used it maybe once or twice:haha:

Then you should spend time learning to tune. What you describe sounds like a tuning issue.

already told you about the wind up, it not 2 seconds........... it is the Solas Concorde prop, just a trait of it........

I have ridden that ski several times............. you even have my Blowsion hood on it.........

why not just let him blow the cash? he will spend all this money (who even knows if its his money?) and wind up with something that still needs tuning, then he will spend even more money on a different engine. he could very well be pauls next best customer! if he's not going to listen to people that know what theyre talking about, SOMEONE should benefit. right?:banghead:

hopeless.

if yoiu have a hesitation....then your lean.......if you have a bog, youre rich.......

something that would have helped you off idle would be a a little bit of timing advance....

something was not right though, 155 psi with 33 cc?

33's shuld give close to 180....I get 160-165 with 35cc's....

yoiu sure its a riva f/s port and not a race port???

nope not shure at all, only going by what the seller told me...

Ok well eatehr way, my cheapest opting right not to get on the lake.
new crank, bore up one size 82.5mm, new pistons/rings, new gaskets.
around $1000, and would like to get pauls f/s port at the least, another $350 but not shure what he can do since its allready ported? i'm only looking for the hit, and it never has since i'v owned it.. about 3months
