Toy Hauler

I am contemplating purchasing a Toy Hauler.
I want it big enough to fit 2 jet skis inside.

They have quite a few on this site:

This is the one I am seriously thinking about getting:

I like the fact that you can fit 2 skis and still have a bed on top.
In other words if you are traveling and want to crash, you can do so without having to take the skis out.

But if the price is right I can start with a really small one too:

Do you have a Toy hauler?
Have you own one in the past?
What advised can you give me?
Pictures?

how much is that hyperlite? And I'm a little confused about if you can fit skis and people in that one or just one or the other...

The hyperlite seems to fit one ski or at least that is all I would fit. You can sleep inside but you need to take the ski out. I would not mind starting out with one like that then later one moving to a bigger one.

But I think they are a bit overpriced (for what you get):

Benny, Just curious..are the skis sealed off from the sleeping area?

It seems as if not the fumes could get a bit obnoxious sometimes? Maybe not as long as there is good ventilation.

Excellent point! never thought about that....
I guess I will have to remove the skis regardless, that means I can go down to a 12 footer, single axle with no bed on top, only bunkers.
But I don't think it will fit 2 superjets......

you can find great deals on used ones right now, peeps are dumping them left and right. id rather buy used because one trip to the dunes and sand is everywhere, and it wouldnt bother me nearly as much..
15' might be a bit small, and the weight difference between that and a 18-20' isnt huge but the comfort level is...my dad currently has a 28' that he loves because there is the main bed forward, so you can sleep with the bikes in the trailer

I have a Tacoma 4 door with the 4.0 engine so I can't really go overboard or I will need to get another truck. I am already on the prowl on CL for one but they are all BIG so far.....too big for my Taco to pull.
Used all the way....I hear you....it works for me.

oh yeah, thats all bs. my buddy tows his 20 ft whaler loaded and ready to go at 4500lbs with his old style 3.4 tacoma all the time. the new big tacos can easily tow 5000lbs...they are rated for 6500...just make sure you have a good trailer brake setup and you're golden..

Ive got a 08 R-vision "Boggie Box" i know its a goofy name. Its a 25ft V nose I can put a couch on a single trailor, and a stand up on a dolly tie them both down with room for another standup (havent actually put 3 skis in there yet).

Ive already been down the road your going down now, I looked for about 3-4 months HEAVILY!! Ended up getting a brand new one, FULLY loaded from a RV dealer that went bankrupt in Virginia (live in Texas). It retailed for $37,000 and had it hauled to our doorstep for roughly $18,000, Ive already been inside the same model localy, and liked it alot.

Things I would DEFINITLY pay attention to:

1. When exiting the rear door, does your head hit the bottom of the bed when its up. If you plan on walking in and out, and its not tall enough for you to stand straight up....your wasting your time on that RV....IMO

2. Can you stand straight up in the shower??

3. How long has it been sitting in the lot?? Look for sunfaded plastics, weathered tires, hail damage on the AC unit, signs for leakes....etc...

4. Where is it being sold?? Near the coast?? This plays a factor on how long its been sitting also.

5. Take your time and make sure it is very comfortable to suit your needs. Ours in 27ft including the V nose and getting 3 people in there gets a little cramped. How many people are you usually going to be with???

In my opinion buying a RV is more like buying a house, you want to be comfortable. Especially if your buying a used one, you dont want something going wrong while your at the campsite. Just pay attention the the details.

Thats my 2 cents,

Daniel

Thanks for all the input....You too Brett.
You are so right....it's the little things that get to you, like the bed clearance......I am definitely taking my time. I want to purchase by February or March and get ready for next year's season.
I will use mainly for My GF, daughter and me.

good call martin, when rvs get too old the little stuff does tend to start breaking, and with the economy now, buying new isnt as hard to swallow when there is so much inventory and not a lot of buyers

good advice... with all the great deals on used toy haulers right now , i would never buy new.
