Are they interchangeable? I know the RN has 4 bolts and the SN has 6. If they're interchangeable, is it the middle 2 bolts that were eliminated on the RN?

Yes and Yes.

If you use a SN plate on a RN, you'll have the drill out the holes a little larger if I am not mistaken. Again if I am not mistaken, the SN uses M6 bolts while the RN uses M8 bolts
