My kid has a old PC that has a AMD 1 gig chip, 256 meg of ram that is running Windows 2000.
I installed the latest version of DirectX and now its screwing with pretty much all the videos that we watch. Like youtube, etc.
I then went and got a old version(directx8) to try and put it back the way it was, but it doesn't work. I then did some reading and found out that you cant go backwards with the versions of DirectX.
I also read about some programs you can buy that will do it for you and also started reading how to do it yourself, but it just got to technically weird for my brain.

Any suggestions?
I'll trade technical support for some gaskets!! :biggrin:

Just download Windows XP unattended from a torrent. It'll run fine on 256mb of ram and a 1GHZ CPU. and since it's unattended no worrying about Microsoft telling you it's an illegal copy (making the OS useless) everytime you update.

Unless you're against that...

Well that's the advantage of torrents. There's a description and comments section so you can read what you download before you download it, unlike limewire, frostwire, etc...

I always use thepiratebay.

Yea I should try torrents some day. I stopped dloading anything except tunes which I just get from Amazon. Clean MP3's and nice simple interface.

I might spent 20 per year....maybe.
