winter riding

who here besides me says " fck winter, im still riding" ? im from TN...gets cold as hell here, but still has nice days every now and then. few people i know winterize they're ski's the first time it gets below 60. been riding for 13 years.... i don't let cold water stop me from riding.



anyone else ride in the cold?

Yeah i ride in cold weather but thats because the weather is always crap here! lol

I have the past 3 years. Riding when its 23F SUCKS. But I bought a dirt bike to help get through the winter, so I dont think I will be too diehard this year.

I don't really enjoy riding below 55F air temp. Water temp as long as the lake isn't frozen Im okay. I just make sure not to fall in.

me and the boys picked up some 7mm suits and we are still out riding in canada.. i think we will be able to ride for another month or so

I normally ride until the water freezes or I break something big. Drysuit + hand warmers + foot warmers = no problemo.

I don't know how cold it gets where you are but here in the Bay area I ride the ocean on winter time as well. Water temp is about 40+ degrees. I just bring out the thick wetsuit and problem solved....I really don't know what the big deal is for some people, "riding season" is over after summer....I ride all year long.

I have to admit though that I do wear earplugs in winter as the cold weather gives me earaches sometimes.....

YES! someone else with balls! haha we need to get a ride together! i am on the hunt for a dry suit.

wow i had no idea there was someone else in here from knoxville other than sam ( 5810 ) im going to be doing some minor work to the ski tomorrow and might be riding if your interested. screw dry suit lol just drink some vodka and throw on a wetsuit and lets ride haha ( vodka to keep ya warm of corse lol )

I was out yestoday in Delaware river. Not to bad if you not fall in. Water about 50. I used 2mm full suit. I got scuba drysuit with rock boots so, technicaly, I can ride year round but you guys shoud see boaters looks at me and my friend riding at the river. You can read on their faces: what thay crazy or on the drugs ? For some reason I start to think same about myself after I see this kind of looks

agreed, but i'll speak for everyone when i say superjet is like a drug, and im addicted. if i go more than a week, i go nuts. where does it say that riding a superjet (or sxr...or modded hull) is strickly a "summer" sport?

Few PIA things you have to deal with if its below freezing. Check your pissers when you first get there. Water always seems to get stuck and freeing in the bottom 90d fitting on the headpipe, blocking it up. As soon as you are done riding and you are on your way home, any water not brapped out, freezes in your cooling lines. They become super stiff and will not allow water to pass, if you try flushing when you get home. Also my steering and throttle cables always have problems with water freeing inside them, temp jamming them up. This is the worst...I lost a steering cable last year due to ice inside cracking it open.

I talked to one guy couple years ago about winter riding. he and his friends use to do New Year rideout at local lake (Pennsilvania). this woud be interesting !!!

i lost a bet a few years ago and had to drag my ski out of it's snowbound nest, drive to the lake (snow coverd roads) and ride for 30 min in the snow. with just shorts and vest. car got stuck on ramp had to be pulled out. horrible bet. was fun though

hahaha wow. we never get snow! where are you riding tomorrow and what do you need to do to your ski? i will be working on the benefit ski tomorrow routing dual rear exhaust on the x-2. its gonna sound wicked.

The problem is trying to convince others to buy drysuits. If you are the only one in the crew with good gear it is pointless........(hint Korn, Smurf, Centerline, and the rest of the Cleveland crew!)
