Anyone know anything about riding in England? Moving to England for a couple of years and can't decide if I should ship my ski over or just store or sell it here before I go.

Haven't lived there, but have definitely been there, and even though it's cloudy and never tooo hot the english channel, irish sea, and north sea certainly have somer good surf.

Infact I surfed in Ireland one time. Cold, but definitely fun. I'd bring it.

I'll check out the website. If anyone has any other good info on where to ride, clubs, websites.....etc, i'd appreciate it. I take it SteveUK lives there and is a good person to talk to?

i live in canada now, moved over here in 2005...

there is a pretty good scene, but not a huge amount of lakes, and you have to pay launch fees and have insurance to ride on lakes, in some cases you need your RYI (which is like a boating license). most lakes offer yearly memberships

check out www.jetskier.co.uk for lauch areas

you can also ride on the coast, in most cases no charge.. but many launches are not jet ski friendly thanks to the wonderful couch riders

you can also pm grahammy on here, he is hugely into the freestyle scene and actually runs the freestyle competitions, also on here, QJS who is chris the owner or air time products who is a weath of information

id say dont ship your ski unless its super spank.. cost me over $2k to ship mine (with trailer)

skis are more expesive in the uk, but its realative, parts are also more expensive.. as is gas.. so be ready for that, if you do plan to by a ski in the uk,then gamble on buying stock, then order up all your aftermarket parts before you leave from the US...

good luck man.. feel free to pm me any questions too

I'll be getting over there in April. I have quite a few mods that I don't really want to do again and the military will ship it free for me. I just didn't know if it'd be worth taking, but it sounds like it will.

Thanks for all the great info. I'll pm if i need anything more detailed. I appretiate the quick responses..

what? lol why the heck would you have your trailer shipped over 4000 miles?
lol i would pull the ski apart and pack all of the AM parts in an extra suit case and take it on the plane with me. ( not carry on) haha. special stuff like your engine, carbs, Factory B pipe and RRP pole? see what will fit... just my $.02

oh and sell your hull here..

Bring it if you can get it here for free, you'll love it. If you give me a call when you get here I will give you all the info on your closest places to ride and getting insurance etc,
Chris.

Thanks QJS, I'll be at Lakenheath in April. I'll definately contact you when I get settled. I assume it's always wetsuit weather? I've only skied in Texas and Oklahoma so I've never really needed one.
