Info on Jetworks dual 38 carb mod

All in the title. Looking for info on theses carbs. I'm sure they work as advertised , just looking for some end user feed back.

i had them on a jetworks ported 701 with a b pipe and tl ignition with 2-205lbs compression. instant clear crisp throttle anywhere. also had run them with stock ignition and with an enhancer, same results. if i still had that motor, i would still be running them

Are we refering to the "Taper-bore" modification? If so I run a set on my Ported 760 and love them, great power top to bottom and always crisp. I stuck in JSS reccomended jetting for my setup and tweaked my LS 1/8 turn and haven't looked back yet.

I just sent a second set out to JSS to be modded but they came back "clearanced" rather than taper bored. Is Jetworks the only one who does the taper bore mod or was I not clear in what i was asking for?

Either way I love mine and have heard that they may even work better than OEM 44's on the 760's. I like smaller throat carbs for a stronger signal and easier jetting, I may be giving up some throttle response but improperly tuned larger carbs will do the same and cost more.

AMEN BOYER...i agree whole heartedly. What'd that mod cost you door to door? I've got a set of 38's I'd like to send to Art.

Best call Art for a quote. The Taper bores I run on my 760 were bought used so I couldn't tell you. I think I paid $150 for the pair used with a manifold and F/A adapters and then sent them to JSS for a full workup.

The ones I just got back were not taperbored. They just had any obstructions removed from the throat and clearanced for better flow. That mod alone was $75/pair on top of cleaning, rebuilding and modding for Billet knobs.

44's run the same as 38's. Anything bigger runs a little more I believe. These are the one carbs I would seriously consider solely because he takes your current jetting and converts it to his jetting so it requires minimal tuning effort when you get them back. That's huge!

Isn't "Taper boring" the same as removing obstructions from the top part (up to throttle plate) of carb? What other modification is done except that?

I thought the same thing but I have one set of 38's that have a much wider opening where the inlet has been enlarged to 54mm and then tapers down to the oem diameter at the butterfly, thus "Taper Bored".

I had to enlarge the openings in my F/A adapters to match the modified carb throat. I did not have to do that for my "obstructions removed" carbs.

I hope that was a good enough explanation, pics would be crystal clear.

I get it now. Obstruction removed, but general oem diameter remains. Other method, taper boring into a cone shape with end at the throttle plate. I wonder wheter circuits are somehow upgraded to give that "crisp" response..?

I would like to hear a professionals description of what the mod does as well, which one is better than the other.

I've heard Jetting on the 38's can be become difficult as well if you just remove the choke plate. I wondered if this mod helps clear that up?

Have you run the JSS carbs?

Not yet, they are installed and the ski is running but I haven't taken it to the water to put a load on it.

He had me bump up the pilot 2 sizes which I'm sure is to offset the loss of signal from removing the choke plates and other obstructions. mains remained the same.

I just talked to Art yesterday about these carbs. He was really preaching about them. Completely steered me away from what I had in mind. I'll be blackjacking 38's soon.
