Help: sometimes ski won't crank

U got 4 wires for the stator. 2 go to the charging coil and 2 to the ignition coil. The green must be for the ignition coil.

It'd probably be a good idea to replace that wire over the winter, as the spline is most likely to eventually fail. That usually happens when you're on the middle of a big lake with no other boaters are on the lake.

Well......went for a water test today. Same results as b4. Started run around then dies. Does nothing the whole time it ran it never cleared up and run good, still had a sputter to it thru the rpm.

try changing the msd ign. out. swap parts from the other ski. could be bad

Also, when it is acting dumb. I can jump it on the relay, it does crank, then I can also hit the start button directly after that and it starts the ski???

you have gremlins in your engine bay!

this sounds like a bad relay. it may "click" but that dosn't mean it's working. so when you jump the terminals it completes the circuit, thus starting. i had this problem several times in the hx, relay would click, but nothing happend. the contacs on the starter relay could be going bad, cerosion (sp) this could be the main reason your losing power to the ski (running). the one wire that supplys votage to the electronics in the Ebox comes right off the pole of the sylinode (relay) then goes to the fuse. check all these connections. replace the sylinode first and see if that does anything.

Going to water test. Had a bad stator ground wire. Ran a wire from the ebox stud to the flywheel cover. Tha ks guys.

Well, the stator ground seemed to fix the starting issue. However It still will not accept hardly any throttle. It runs like crap. Im guessing something inside the flywheel cover has happened. I will pull it off sunday, gonna ride the backup ski tomorrow. Thinkin my coil might be bad on the stator or might be damaged. Also makes since that the problem lies in there because my problem with it running crappy and then not starting back happened at the same time.

Maybe the ground bolt vibrated loose, bounced around on the flywheel and cut/damaged another wire inside there. Does this sound possible?

might need to replace the stator. mine went bad and would run for a while, but when it got warm and i killed it it would not start until it cooled off. skinnyman told me what the problem was. that fixed it.
