yamaha Superjet 80 miles. A good idea?

Alright here is the plan i am going to travel 40 miles on my super jet to one of the largest fire work shows in the nation this sunday morning. then im am pulling the ski on to the dock and spending the night at a hotel, im riding back the next morning. any one want to join me? i have one person on a couch following me for sure. there are gas stations every six miles or so. my only question is how far can i go on one tank of gas? i am running a 760 with 35cc ada head and factory b pipe.

BOOMS DAY! Hell Yeah! Dunno if I'd wanna ride that far on the stand up though... That would KILL my back...

For the fireworks, we would get on top of my buddy's apartment building next to the bridge and would pull the ladder up after 30 or so peeps got up...

I miss those college days...

Have fun and find a good ladder!

On a standup the range is usually affected most by the pilot/ popoff setting unless you are able to run at full throttle most of the time. A good responsive setting is normally very rich at part throttle and uses a lot of gas. The most fuel efficient setting will be very clean at part throttle and usually less responsive.

i rode my ski from my town to my girlfriends once (15 miles down river and back, 30 total) i was on reserve when i got back...and wasnt sore or anything, just rode along at a decent speed straight there and straight back and it was quite fun. i was getting very unsure about my fuel supply until i actually made it back! if water conditions are good for you and you know you can get fuel you will have a great time...but thats a long freakin trip man!

Better plan on around 25 miles per tank, so you'll have to fill up at least once going there and once coming back. I've gone around sixty miles one way before (I had a chase boat whose top speed was 12mph so it took 5 hrs.) For being on the water that long I actually wasn't that tired. If you're just cruising you should be OK. Have fun.

thanks for the input. as of today it is still on for sunday morning. there will probably be 1000 boats on the river for labour day so i figured if i leave around 730-800 am i should be fine with boat traffic. i am stuffing my hull with spare water bottles and nalgene bottles of fuel now, hehe can't wait! starting point will be at 207 loudon drive and ending in knoxville if any one wanted to see the trip on a map... http://maps.google.com/

Hmm, Maybe i can start the couple hundred mile ride now and meet you there. Now what river/creek/steam/ditch full or water can i follow to TN?

I havent ridden 40 miles but ive been on a few long lasting journeys. I always had a boat with gas on it near me.

I think I am missing something here... are Kawis gas guzzlers or what? I get about 1.5 hrs of riding out of my 750 SXI Pro... and that is just putzing around... I would have to run it pretty much wide open to get 25 miles on a tank...
