2x2 carbon for installing footholds

I installed my Rickters using what I had on hand, which was 6oz 2x2 twill carbon. For epoxy, I used Max Clr. I only did two layers and I am worried it will be too thin when I sand it all down smooth. Should I add more layers? I do have some cheap glass from Walmart I could put over the top if I need to.

Sand it down and see if it's too thin, add more layers if it is. It's hard/impossible for us to see how thick something might be based on pics. I do think you should overlap more though.

I guess what I am asking is if two 6oz layers is enough before I sand.

I think I used two layers of fiberglass tape that was about the same weight as your carbon but I also rivetted the holds into place. I figured the rivets would hold most of the load and the fiberglass was just a sealer.

Mine are riveted in too. I screwed them in when I epoxied them, and then filled all of the screw holes with rivets (plus a few more).

Why? I had the carbon already, and glass wouldn't be stronger or lighter.

actually,.. the glass you purchased from walmart would have actually been lighter. you used 6oz carbon, walmart probably sells E or Sglass woven mat which is probably 1-2 oz lighter. Not to mention using carbon for that job is just serious waste of money.

It already had the carbon, so it wasnt a waste of money :)
