good price?

Well my parents just purchased a houseboat on shasta. I have some free money at the moment.... I was going to use it to buy chromalloy to rollcage my subaru but now I am thinking that I need a jet ski in my life instead. I have no experiance on a stand up jet ski and very little on a sit down jet ski.... with that being said.

What do you think is the best jet ski to start on? superjet?
What else would i need to ride? vest, wrestling shoes, helmat? etc
Can you fill me in on the ettiquete of riding? The do's and the dont's.
What ever else you think im going to need to know.

I found a 1994 superjet 701cc with an aftermarket bildge pump, intake grate and ride plate. The owner tells me it is in really good shape and the only thing that it would need is a new paint job. He would like to get 1800 for it. What do you guys think? good price? rip off?

personally i wouldnt do that deal. Id look around some more maybe find a 96+ with mods or a 96- with mods, but thats just too expensive for those "mods"

Also the easiest learning curve on a ski is on a sxr, but trust me you will get bored fast, especially if its stock. I switched to a superjet from a sxr and couldnt be happier.

so two thumbs up for a superjet

Not bad, but $1500 is about tops I would pay. A similar 96+ will fetch $2200+ (unless you find a steal)

If you live in Danville why don't you just go buy a new Kawi SXR 800 AND Yamaha Superjet and see what you like:fing02:
I have an Aunt that lives in Black Hawk and I don't think anyone in Danville is hurtin for cash..ha ha ha

If i hadnt dumped all my money into my subaru i probably would. I have about 2 grand. I will probably end up offering the guy 1500 for it. I just want something cheap to mess around on for now. When i get more serious i am going to build my own ski. I just have to keep telling myself it can't be that expensive compared to building a car. might not be after looking at a few of those wamiltons.

You would be better off waiting to find a 96 or newer ski. For just a few hundred more you would get a much better ski with much better resale value when you find out you'd like to build your own ski. The 96+ will probably resale for close to what you pay for it and is very mod friendly. It's the best bang for the buck.

The 96+ machines is probably the best all around ski. It's stable, but not too heavy (kawi sxr, super easy to learn on, almost too stable, but very heavy and not nimble (fun)). It's easy enough to learn on but still nimble enough to grow on and get better without getting bored (fx-1, very light and nimble, but hard to learn on).

I believe the pre 96 superjets are good too, but won't get the resale and won't be as reliable and probably won't handle quite as well.

If your heart set on spending less money and still getting a ski the pre 96 superjets would be a great choice, but for more like $1200.

build a sit down to go race on and you will get in car territory.... pro open boats are in the range of around 45-50k

I found a 2000 superjet that is being sold for 2000 dollars. I am going to meet the guy tomorrow morning. He says it is in good shape and bone stock.

I know she doesn't seem like much... but some of the bigger mods are a cosworth longblock, PPG 5 speed straight cut dogbox, garett gt35r, ohlins flag series coil overs....

I deregistered it and now i am going to hopefully use it for SCCA and redline time attack. I also work on a promod car as a mechanic. This is the best shot i can grab right now, i have a ton of it in pieces...but none of it togethor.
