BMX brake lever for throttle???

I know people are using clutch levers and brake lever for trim systems, but has anybody actually had any luck with a brake lever for a throttle?

With my old throttle I would grab it wide open and it would hit my middle finger so with this one I was able to move it further in towards the turn plate to try and avoid this. It seems to move freely and smoothly so I'm gonna try it out but was just wondering if anybody has had a good experience with this? I guess if it sucks I'm only out 5 bucks, haha

i use a clutch lever for my throttle and i HATE it, i really need to get a umi or something better, the pull ratio absolutely sucks.

i have to expend the cable so i can actually get enough pull to get a decent throttle pull

but maby yours will be better, the only thing u can do is try

I Had a bmk bike lever for my throttle on my last ski and LOVED IT! By far the best thing i can find. Although i sold the damn thing.. :banghead:

yep, ive done it on 4 skis i think. all worked great

I've tried this as well, and the geometry of the trigger is wrong. the pivot point doesn't sit far enough away from the bars, and the throw setting is too short. the ones I've tried even with the cables adjusted out as far as they would go at both ends would only allow 3/4 opening of the butterfly(s).

on the cheaper ones I've tried taking the lever off and hammering it flat and reinstalling it, and it would permit full opening of the butterfly, but the damned thing would sit way too far off the bars, and you need ft. long fingers to employ it.

My butterfly's open fully with the trigger touching the grip. I had to add a washer on the carb side to get as much throw as it has with the stock throttle. I'm not gonna be able to test it for a couple weeks until I get my engine back together but it seems like it should be just as good as the stock throttle.
