In a terrible turn of events yesterday, someone stole my ski yesterday on HWY 95 between Riggins and Grangeville. If anyone knows anything please let me know. The stupid thing has only been together since July 3.

Now it should be fairly obvious if you see it. Its a 88 JS 550, all white, black turf. Hoods missing and the nose is separated. The worst part is the engine. I just put a 650 in there. The bedplate, Ocean Pro head, and ignition cover are painted a light shade of blue, almost whitish. It also has a stock 650 pipe modded and with "Diggler Performance Parts" carved into the headpipe.

Idahos awfully small, the jetski scene is even smaller. So if you see or here anything, I would really like it back.

I wrecked in the river and ripped the nose off it. So we drug it up to the side of the road because there was no way I could get it through the lower rapid as it was. By the time we got everything loaded up and back to where it was, it was gone(between a half hour and an hour).

That doesn't surprise me.
I had my kids' quad stolen last year in a similar fashion.
It, along with two hulls, was sitting on a trailer that my wife had to leave by the side of the road because of a blown tire.
By the time we got back to the trailer, the quad was gone.
F'n thieves.

I spent a month building a ski from scratch, spare parts that I had, a few off the internet, some from a buddy. Exactly a month to get it running. Rode one day just fine. Built for my fiance, she probably rode it a total of two hours. The next day out I rip the nose off, no big deal.
Then it gets stolen? Seriously?
And my FX still doesnt run right. I seriously think I might be done for the year, maybe more.

My buddies stepmom lives down there and her friend said they saw someone load it up in a truck. Maybe the cops might do their job for once. They got a pretty good description of the truck, the plates(Idaho County, pretty small, maybe 10k people in the whole county), and the kids loading it up. If I get it back this week, I wont even press charges.

Damn! I'm sure it will turn up. I'd be racking the miles on my rig hunting that deadbeat down. If the cops are like they are up here the only way they'll do anything is if they know who it is and they already have caused problems. I just drove through there today, I was going to stop to ride but I wasn't sure if it was legal to ride that section of the Salmon.

My brother in law had his quad stolen off his front porch. It was a suzuki ltz400 and the ironic thing is he just paid it off. They never found it, the cops are worthless around here.

Being the nose is knocked off of it they may try parting it. The nerve of those guys to steal a busted ski? That would be some crap to see your parts come up on the X.

Here's a story to lift your spirits( two, actually). In Jan. '86 my mom's new snowmobile was stolen from our house in MI. We told the police who we suspected, and they did nothing. Three years later we were called by a police officer from Roscommon, MI (over 100mi. away) to report they had found the sled on the side of the road.

#2 ( passed along by another snowmobiler ) a few years ago, a fellow rider's snowmobile was stolen. Awhile later at a pole barn party, he spots his sled in the barn. Double checks everything to be absolutely sure before proceeding to ask the owner about his sweet ride, and how long he's had it. The "owner's" story was total bs, so he got called out. The guy gave him a huge beat down, and took his sled home where it belonged.

I could see where someone could think it perhaps flew off of a trailer and it was left as garbage. I'd have stopped, picked it up, and then searched for the owner through the registration numbers to see if they wanted it back. Just me though.

I could see someone thinking it was abandoned along side the road as well. If it was on a trailer it would be a different story.

Never found it. I hadnt ever registered it, the kid i bought it from had never reigstered it and he cant remember who he bought it from. I found the CG numbers that were on it, called them in. They were registered to a 21 foot boat with an outboard. So i dont have the hin and have no way of getting it. So if it does ever turn up, it probably wont get back to me.

And on the abandoned part, it wasnt even a half mile from my truck and trailer. Anyway you look at it, they knew where it came from. There was other skis on the trailer. They had to have passed it, just no way around that.
