You have something seriously wrong there if you are overheating with dual cooling.Better go back to the drawing board on that one, forget the fluid dynamics, its all about pressure and flow mostly flow, trying to get all fancy on the cooling lines will bite you in the arse every time.

At this point I have to wait to speak to one of the guys at the shop who set this thing up. I understand the whole pressure and flow thing. I simplified the system they originally set up. but this thing has to have some other issues to be getting as hot as it gets. He said he rode the piss out of it prior to delivering it with no issues?

How hot should the stinger get? Should I be able to touch it after riding for 10-15 minutes?

My last couch (GP800) that was pretty worked was always cool to the touch no matter how long I ran it. Even on the house it never got too hot to touch.

At least my '88 650sx works good. I broke the positive terminal end off trying to put the rubber boot on. I'll replace that tomorrow morning and take it out for a change. At least it's reliable.

How did I get here?

Dual carbs?

The first plug looks a little lean to me.

U could try richening the mixture 1/8th turn on the low and high and see if that helps.
After I run, I can barely touch my engine without it being too warm. I don't wanna try touching the pipe.

If good water flow was reaching the stinger, there's no reason the tubing should get too hot.

Single 44mm Mikuni with a Mariner intake and I know he told me the reeds are new as well (CF pedals I think).

I guess the pipe should be hotter than I expect. I just thought that having water sizzle on the pipe was too hot, maybe I'm just being too cautious?

I'll try it again and see if I can measure the temps of the cylinders and exhaust with an infrared thermometer.

This is what I am looking for. Thanks. I still need to run the issues by the guy who set it up, but this helps a lot.

I'll measure the temps anyway just to check.

Yes the stinger temp depends on how much water is being run through it,on a bone stock 650 you could probably grab the stinger and hold it,if you mod the pipe though the stinger runs much hotter Like Wavedemon said.

Right now the set-up is similar to the way I got it only I made the flow from the rear cylinder straight through the tee to the stinger. I also drilled out the needle seats and placed restrictors at both pissers.

So far no melted hoses, but the heat is still there. I will measure the temps this weekend and let you guys know. I think I am on the right track.

Now if I can only get the primer he's getting me I would be golden. I squirted gas in the F/A at home and started the ski. usually this is enough, but when i got to the lake she would not start. Luckily someone had a gas can and I was able to add a few drops to get her going.

if your having trouble with prime when you get to the lake just take the fa off and put your hand on the top of the carb blocking it completely, full vacuum and it'll suck fuel into the carb right away

Good to know till I get my primer. I tried milking the fuel lines to get fuel in, but it didn't work for me.

It's silly how little fuel it took to get it to fire up. Seriously it only needed a few drops.
