Ok... quick background: 6m6 stock internals. Protec Mach 1 Pipe. Enhancer with rev limiter maxed - ran great last year.

Now, new for this year: fresh rebuilt single 44 from JSS (stock jetting.) All new fuel lines with new primer. And... new (old) ocean pro head.

I know I'll need to do some jetting changes, but I wanted to fire the thing to at least get a baseline and make sure I got everything back together (I'm an amatuer mechanic at best.) As soon as it turned over, I jumped to what seemed like redline, and in fact it basically started dieseling. No good. Compression went from stock (155) to 180. I'm on 93 gas.

So, is this a way too high compression issue? Seems like a bigger problem than can be solved by just re-jetting.

Check the mating surface on the intake manifold, both the carb side and case side to see if the gaskets are sealing all the way around on the install. This definately sounds like a nice little air leak.

If it happens again and the stop button wont kill it, pull the throttle wide open. Jetting should be the same unless you never changed it.

x2 on the pressure test... You never know what else could've creaped up over the winter. IF you rode it last weekend and it was fine, ok. If you rode it last season, could be a lot of things.
