glad to see that you finally got to ride that sweet build...too much power?

Yes and no, I have created a monster, but I'm sure I'll have it tamed within a ride or two and be looking for more again.

The low end bog made it very unpredictable so when it cleared up an took off...it really took off. It definately tested my shoulder socket strength.

Well I got my low end bog figured out finally and this thing rips. If you ever have a problem jetting and it comes and goes, pull your carbs and look for gunk in your jets. I had some slimey residue stuck in one of my pilots that would partially clog the jet. I inspected the carbs before I assembled but I guess I missed this.

After a tank of fuel my compression is up from 165 to 175. Hopefully it settles in around 180-185 after break in.

Now that the ski is running great I find that I need more hook up. When I punch it, the ski leaps out of the water and the pumps unloads and just spins the prop. I need a more aggressive grate to load my pump more and keep me hooked up, or maybe need to step up to the 10/16 Hooker from the 9/15.

What intake grate are you running Boyer?

N/M...I went back and saw what you had. I have never seen one, so I can't comment.

I was running a TBM pump cone with a Skat C75 12/17 and an R&D grate on that hull with my motor and it had killer hookup!

Here's some pics of the grate I'm using. I've run more aggressive before but I figured this would be pretty good.

I am also running a Stubby Cone, I should yank that off and go back to stock cone too.

Steve, The Hooker is a large hub and should net similar gains to running the TBM cone.

The other good news is that my bendix hasn't skipped once on my TBM flywheel. On my 96 SJ it would miss probably 3 out of 10 start attempts. Must be a symptom of a weak starter or bendix? Either way, I'm pretty happy that it starts every time.

UPDATED: I'm pretty sure now that the bendix hasn't skipped because I replaced both Brass Bendix Bushings so the alignment is tight.

I'll ride for a few more weekends and try my current setup out in the surf before I make too many changes I guess. I took another 1 1/2" out of my pole last night so we'll see if that helps keep the nose down and pump hooked up.

RRP Pole....$750.00
RRP Lowered Bracket with Dual breathers....$350.00
Being able to take 1 1/2" out of the pole in less than 3 minutes...Priceless!!!!!

Looks like you were right Steve, I only had an 1 1/2" till my tubes were bottomed out, I may be cutting another couple inches of those tubes yet.

I cut one inch off of mine and bottomed them out to start with. If that doesn't suit me, I'll drop it another inch.

You're not running a shortened turnplate though are you? I'm running a -2.5" turnplate with straight bars.

By my measurements the RRP pole is a -2" from stock with the tubes bottomed right out. So i should be around a -4.5" total plus whatever the bars do.

Yes, my current turnplate is a shorty....but it looks like I will probably be switching to the RRP setup.

Be sure to post up pics when you do.

I took your advice and tried tightening my pole so it stays where it's put and man did that bust my back! I'll be redoing my spring and adding the spring block this weekend. I don't need it to stand straight up but a neutral pole is way better.
