Has anyone tried messing with (intake) water injection?

I was thinking last night about how easy it would be to add water injection to a ski. Not the normal exhaust tuning water injection but the intake side injection that has been around forever to control detonation, typically on 4 strokes. Here's the wiki if you don't know what the backflip I'm talking about.

Anyways, seemed like a good match from my somewhat layman point of view. All the max effort combos out there are compression / ignition advance limited due to detonation. Yes? Other motor sports are reaping huge benefits from this process under similar scenarios. Could this potentially allow the use of pump gas with compression and ignition advance in the current race gas range? That would be nice, eh??

Has anyone toyed with this on a two smoke before?

:splatt: or :brap: ???

Just run open F/A's and an aftermarket hoodseal.

All the water injection you could want.

it works in a 4stroke but not going to be the best idea in a 2 a stroke. not to mention the portion of us that ride primarily in salt conditions, have you seen whay saltwater and oil combined does? i don't suggest it!!!

Why not start with propane injection and work from there? It's actually cheaper than water and is readily available in tidy, sealed and pressurized containers.

Not quite sure how diesel injection theory crosses over to 2-stroke theory...

I didn't think about the salt water guys. The system I had in mind certainly wouldn't work for them! You could still do what the car guys do and keep a dedicated tank for it on board. Maybe the old oil tank collecting dust on your garage shelf even. And yes, nowadays this is typically used on forced induction applications but the fact is this is just a way of delaying the onset of detonation.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS THINKING! Water injection for the exhaust only...

Are you speaking from experience Supertune? I'm real curious to hear from someone who was crazy enough to try this.
