SX/SXi/SXi Pro anything better with 750sx over sxi or sxi pro

are there any advantages of 750sx over sxi or sxi pros in terms of turning it into a freestyle ski? i care a lot more about bottem end then i do top end. if i had the loot, i'd get an sxr, but i can't afford it right now.

thank you.

The '98 and up are SXI Pros have a hand-laid fiberglass lower hull, but they also went to pre-mix only to drop weight. There are a couple handling advantage to the "pro," including slight hull changes, the motor is mounted further forward, there are small sponsons under the rear rail, etc. All of this probably wouldn't make a difference for freestyle. They are supposedly the same weight as previous 750 years but I call bs.. my buddy's 98 always felt like a tank compared to my old '92.

Your sweet spot weight and budget-wise would be a 96-97 SXI because it has the same bigpin motor used in later years. The '95s are also dual carb but have a less powerful motor. Of course, I can't really diss any year 750- my previous one was a '92 single carb and it was a great ski too. My current one is a '96.
SX= 318 lbs (63 hp I think)
SXI= 329 lbs (75hp, '96 and later)
SXI PRO= 329 lbs (so they say)
SXR= 351 lbs
All seem a LOT cheaper than same year superjets, at least in my area.

Hey, I'm also in the East Bay CA

THANKS for the quality response. that really helps.
i'm in san ramon. where are you?

yeah, everyone also says, "get a superjet instead" but they are darn near impossible to find here and when you find them they tend to be a lot more than what i'm wanting to spend. i routinely see squarenoses 650s for like $1200 to $1500 BUT they aren't anywhere near here. those tend to be in the midwest or on the east coast. there was one that i was going to buy in L.A., but it was in horrible shape. PLUS, i just flat out prefer the riding style of kawi standups. i don't like that squirely feeling of superjets anyways. i know, i know if i rode them a bunch i'd get used to it . . . but for now i'd rather stay with the kind of skis i like for much less with lots more availbility.

one other thing. 750sx vs. SN 650. ??? how much more power does the 750 have over the 650sn? i'd assume there's a noticable difference.

Yeah, I'm in Fremont. If you ever want to hit SF bay, PM me. I haven't been out there in years, and never out of the East bay (yet).

I'll let you ride my ski if you want to compare against a SJ. From what I hear the SJ is best for freestyle due to weight, but I'd sell my '96 SXI for $1700 and you can't touch a '96 superjet for near that price.

jondotcom, didn't the 95 750 standup's have 2 different runs on there motor's ???
i thought the early 750sx had small pin single carb motor's, and the later year 750sx's had big pin dual carb motor's and where classified as a 750sxi jetski ???

any how, good luck !!!

i've seen a bunch of worth while superjets for under $2k in or near your area... To find an SJ you got to be willing to drive atleast 3-4 hours most of the time.

What is your price range???

You are probably right. I always associated the 95 with the SXI (first year big pin, but bad porting). '96 and later big pin carried through to the SXI Pro years mostly unchanged.
