96 rn super-wet!!! Build

This is what we started with, a 96 superjet, stock pole, stock hood, stock nose cover, xft holds.

first we started with the hood. I bought a stock hood for $40. I cut the liner out then put the hood on the ski with the flat nose piece. I used tape to make the lines where i needed to cut the top of the hood to lower it. Then i used a dremel with a cut-off wheel to cut the top of the hood off.

after citting the hood to pieces we taped wax paper over the holes on the top of the hood. we put several layers of duct tape over the wax paper to make it strong so it would maintain the shape we wanted. Covered the parts of the inside that we were not glassing with masking tape. Then we laid about 8 layers of glass on the inside of the hood. we were sure to saturate the cloth very well without using alot of resin to keep the hood as light as possible.

I'll post more about the final shaping of the hood when i get to that part.

next we pulled the engine, pole, waterbox, gas tank....

Now for the best part of the cutting process! I ripped out my XFT holds and who ever put them in did not seal them up well. they didn't even epoxy them in. they put them in with GASKET SEALER and rivets then 1 layer of glass over the whole tray. So we started ripping the foam out aand found a pool of water in the left side of the ski. it was about 1/2 gallon of standing water and a garbage bag full of wet foam. This is the reason the name of this thread is the SUPER-WET! jordan has some pics of the water. post them up man

now since i have the holds out I am looking for ideas on what to do for holds now. i was thinking of refoaming and cutting out the shape of the hold i want and glassing that along with part of the xft enclosure to make my own holds. any opinions?

we had a tagging war. when he would leave the garage i would write on his ski with paint marker. I LOVE OBAMA or i would draw a huge cock down the whole side of his ski. then he would do the same poop when I would leave. It's an on-going war. But I am the one who is painting his ski while he is in michigan for x-mas. I could paint something real nice and clear over it before he gets back! haha revenge:starwars:
