OK heres my problem, i dropped off my boat about a week ago and told them how i wanted it painted and picked the color, everything was good. The paint guy gave me a $300 quote. Im currently in Auburn, Alabama in college. Im from Mobile where my boat is, my friend (vomitspot) went by today to check on it for me and it was 90% done MINUS THEY OVER SPRAYED INTO MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT:AR15firing:, which got on my silver texailium (sp). So Jason told them to spray the whole engine compartment black, which SUCKS :crying:! Well all that begin said from one X member to another what should i tell this guy? and should I tell him I want a cheaper price? Say $100 off since he messed up my $100 worth of texailium.

thanks

I have heard horror stories from peeps who have worked in production shops like that, like being handed one piece of sandpaper to wetsand a whole car with lol.

haha yea ill tell him to take it off of my tab

we will make this short and sweet
yea ill take it off the tab,
but now your gonna pay gas for transport, stand fees, labor for reassembly, the fpp that was gonna be free is now leased, intrest on the parts that are needed to complete the build, and lets not forget the free 701 motor I provided....ill stop there im sure that will cover my exp.
i dont think it has been sprayed black yet it was about 4pm when i went by there
the light was very poor as it was in a heat box and had no lights but from what i could tell the overspray looked very bad thats why i told them to just cover it up

There is no exscuse for what they did/did not do but n reality 300 does not buy much of a paint job I would try to get a discount and next time go to a pro! I have been the paint/body field for a while and a 300 paint job is to good to be true the Only way to make a few buck at that rate is to have a rookie do the work and use sh!! Materials
Try to get the job for free so when it starts to fail/peel you won't be as pissed off my.2

If it hasn't been sprayed black yet what about making the douche that sprayed the paint remove the overspray. And let him know that if he messes up your reinforcement he owes you a new hull. Why isn't anybody held liable for things they mess up. I know that we are at my job. Hell we pay for stuff that we don't mess up but get blamed for....

im with him as well... $300 wont even cover my materials in a basic ski paint job.. i just did a job about 4 months ago and i had almost $800 in materials myself.. at MY cost!!!

i would try and get it for free bc if theyre makin money on a $300 job then they dont have that much in it

Yeah, a $300 paint job is super cheap. Be lucky you found someone to paint it that cheap. Did you tell them to tape off the motor bay? The painter might not know if you care or not. I'd just deal with the black inside, that texcrap is ghey anyway.

How can you complain about a $300 paint job?

I would look at the parts they were supposed to spray. If you got a good paint job for $300, Then be thankfull.

A good shop can give deals like that using left-over paint.

(If I were to do a $300 paint job for somebody, they would be required to do ALL prep - including tapeoff.)

I would not bitch about it - you already got a deal.

If you get bored look into the cost of materials...color, reducer, catalyst, thinner, hardener, primer, clear, flex additive, sand paper, buffing compound, tape etc.

I think you'll find that $300 is probably not even enough to cover materials. If it looks good and sticks, be thankful that some fool sold himself short.
