Guys,

I am having the worst time getting the setup down for this. I have had some help from the man (Pancaker himself-Thanks Pete!), and have gotten close, but I just cant seem to time or execute the setup turn properly.

Have any of you had these issues and how did you fix them? I am just not putting it all together.

Thanks!

slight turn to the opposite direction u roll then crank bars, pin throttle, tuck lean and hold on :) and keep that pole down! :naughty:

I got advice from Slutty, Saki and Dre and i still can only get it 3/4 of the way around.

Last time i turned it into an inverted sub and ended up pogo-sticking off the bottom of the ocean floor and crackin up the front of the ski and bustin all 4 motor mounts.(kenny keepers installed now) I quit trying. Nose stabs come easy for me, BR's dont.

That is Right on... sound familiar Phil... lol ;)

The Problem is that you know what you need to do, you just dont do it when you get on the wave.. I saw a 3/4+ out of you when you finaly tucked and snaped the bars... LIke said above, I told you the same thing that 40 other people on here can tell you... You just need to DO IT !
As soon as you leave the wave you do a half snap and then stand strait up !

Dont get me wrong I give you huge credit, Last time you came up, you could hardly nose stab, and now your stabs are awesome and your almost there on your rolls !

I took half a season to dial in rolls.. Its not instant.

Time and Practice.:headbang: Good Riding Phil Really !

I've never heard that before..........:nana:

You are correct...I do know what the problem seems to be, but cant seem to fix it. Thats why I was asking how (or what others did) to make themselves stay tucked and have proper body position. I know your advice is correct, but I cant seem to make it click (I feel like I am in a ball when I leave the wave, even though I am not), and just wanted to hear from others if they fought and fixed this same issue.

I also feel like I got more snap of off some small boat waves, and thus think my timing at the top of the wave is off some.

I know I need practice, practice, practice, but am living eating and sleeping rolls right now and will be until I can land them clean plate 2 plate every time.

Just wanna keep thinking about it and pushing it until I get it!

Pete is right, I know what to do but since I can stab huge with ease, my body tends to want to go there instead, thats why I landed wrong on the last attempt and got busted up. I might try going weak side if I do it again, or just say fock it, can't afford this crap.

Phil.. Your doing great !:fing02:
You will get it... I think your next move should be to limit rope your pole... and Bungy your helmet to left side of ski... :clown:
:barrel:

Next time you try... Try pole trick..

Youll get-r-dun ! :headbang:

Yeah Phil, you were almost there, you took a beating this past weekend, It'll come in time, just be patient. waves were a little weird last weekend

I had the killer stabs for a long time I just started rolling plate to plate off cruiser wakes. It was really hard for me to commit to roll, once i got past the upside down come un tucked stage they came easy.I just started to slam my pole hard at the same time I would hit the gas and crank the bars.I really cant tell you were to look since im still amazed that Im rolling and smiling real big watching the world spin.

I did try to stab the other day and landed on my head

I may be to stupid to do more than one thing

same as what caker has told you ,when i was learnin to do then i also try to get good part of your upper body over the pole and you ur head over and almost try and look at the bottom of the ski basically, your body will follow your head!!

Yes,

My nozzle is drilled in pretty far, and the upper on the turnplate is on the outer hole.

I think its more in how I set up and turn the bars.............I was looking at some pics from the week end and even a good ways from the wave I was not inverted yet..........I think I am late on the pivot of the bars...........causing slower and late rotation. I am not 100% tucked by any means, but dont feel the ski whipping around me off the wave like I should.

Phil, it took me a couple beatings to get mine dialed in too. It's not always about any pre-turn, just depends on your style. I think you can go more balls to the walls w/o a pre-turn but seems like guys who do pre-turn have more finesse throughout their rolls. I never could keep the pole down like the big boys either, but pulling the bars into either my waist, stomach, or chest always helped me control how fast I spun. When I first started rolling, I'd make a conscious effort mid-roll to re-tuck and re-pull in the bars and used that later on too once I started going bigger and started eyeballing my landing if I felt I was rolling too slow. Just some more thoughts. Looking forward to seeing your progress at Wavedaze!

From years of doing tricks in various sports I'll give 2 bits of advice.
1. Have someone videotape your attempts. You'll see exactly what you are doing wrong and when.
2. Try to do everything (e.g. staying tucked, cranking the bars, etc) at 120% of what you think you need to do. You can always back off it on the next attempt if you take it too far, but you won't take it too far, trying for 120% when you are learning usually gets you 90% of the way there.

Good luck.
