5 mil Lamey stroker with single 48/Kawi mani and TBM sucks

Well, I wouldnt listen to any of you when I posted pics of my Lamey 85.5 bore 5 mil stroker with a single carb that I was building to put in my new '07 hull. I should have bought a real manifold (as some of you suggested) for my Novi 48 instead of getting the kawi and wasting money getting it powdercoated (Heck, I should have run dual carbs like most of you said). I should have also not run the TBM in my pump. I got it on the water for the first time today, and I was super disappointed. It had less pull than my LPW 701. I think I was choking it like some of you said I would with that intake manifold. It was probably a combination of that and the damn TBM in the stock pump that wouldn't let it get out of its own way.

NOT! Brian at Virgin/Thrust knows exactly what the hell he is talking about. Anyone who has doubts about a single 48 Novi on a Kawi manifold .... and a TBM for the pump area on a big bore Lamey power valve stroker.... Doubt no more. It's one hell of a motor. I've still got some tuning to do, but I am super pleased! Like the say...once you go black, you will never go back! It's true! My white power ski is officially for sale. I'm rockin the Black Power Ski from now on!

I rode the ski after it's 1st 15 minutes in the water and said WTF!!!
The TBM that I told him to throw away works in his ski?!?!?!?!?!?!?!)which I am proud for him but can't understand why I would not make it work).
The Novi 48 single set up snaps to life instantly after 15 min of tweaking and runs out STUPID hard!!! And powervalve tame a powercurve??? If thats the case-he needs about 24 more powervalves to tame that beast!

All I can say is Brian Virgin ROCKS the house yet again!!! The elite crowd of really strong yet really snappy strokers has a new member!!!(W/a bone stk ignition and flywheel).

is it light switchy or smooth? or too early to tell???

LIGHTSWTICH w/a looooong hard pull after the switch is on and the switch is on the instant the butterfly cracks open. I was honestly amazed, proud for Steve and pissed off all at the same time! LOL yes-I will bitch about the TBM cones till I die. LOL

I really need to get it tuned well and broke in before I can give a good total overview of this motor. All I know.... is that if I knew this thing would rock this hard, I would have had it together long ago and said bye bye to the LPW ported 701 I was totally happy with! This boat went from zero bolts on a brand new hull to in the water for the first time today. I was just severely ecstatic that it ran. Then when it got somewhat tuned and ran "well," I got back on the ported 701, and it felt like a toy car compared to the hotrod black ski I was previously riding. :Eyecrazy:

After Gildo lifted the back of the my boat up and looked in the pump ......... verifying that the TBM was indeed in the boat. He proceeded to give me the universal sign of friendship (the middle finger)..... and went back to his power pickle. :nana:

the tbm pump cone is an awesome thing
I am not sure why some one would say t isnt
you just need to make sure you prop accordingly for it

Yep. Even on a stock motor that carb hits hard.

I agree, after I put the TBM in my ski it greatly improved the hookup and the boat still has plenty of snap. I am running the Concord 13/18 and it works great. I tried a C+75 mag prop and it killed it, not sure if it was because it was pitched too high or if the hub design made the pump too agressive. I am a fan of the TBM but it is a little more picky and you have to dial it in for it to work right.

yeah it loads the engine more
I guess its because there isnt the slip you had in there before
I always prop down with a tbm pump cone
but they are awesome for hook up

Just keep an eye on the plugs. I have a carb setup semilar to yours (48 Novi/ATP manifold) and my rear plug is always darker than my front.
