my new quad.

I forgot!
I bought a new atv this week. I haven't had a quad in almost 10 years and the last one i had was a polaris scrambler 500. We already got a honda foreman and a yamaha 600 grizzly at the shop to haul stuff. So I looked at all the new 2009 sport models and think the new sport atv's are nice. I also noticed this one is no longer available in 09. So i bought myself a 2008 YFZ350X. for those of you that don't know, it's a banshee! lol. I have wanted one of these crazy quads since i was like seven. I have never even rode one, i think i sat on one in a dealership years ago. I new it wasn't as fast as the new 4 stroke 450's. i don't care, i don't plan on racing. This machine is so fast and so small/light, and a 2-stroke! I think i got one badass atv. what do you guys think?

that is awesome. I have always liked the way banshee's looked. good score man. toomy pipes sound awesome on there if your gonna change the exhaust.

my brother in law had a pimped out banshee several years ago. The acceleration was amazing. The first time I nailed it I almost slid right off the back.

yeah i bet alot of things work real good on these quads, i am blown away right now with how fast it is and i am just breaking it in. Unchanged since what? 1987? i still love the look too. The dealer had a new Canam, honda 450, raptor 350, raptor 700 and a Canam renegade 800. The renagade is so much like my scrambler but with bigger power. I liked my scrambler, it was fun, and good trail rider, awesome in snow, but it was big and heavy and was easy to push beyond the machine's limits. No real good improvements to do to them either. This old school yamaha banshee still brought respect to the shop/customers when they pulled it down off the display rack and prepped it for me. So cool, i can't wait to go ride it again tommorrow.

yeah really, the manual specs it at 24:1 i am going break it in and run it 50:1 but right now it loves to smoke! :) I had all three of my kids on it with me, hurt myself, had to use the reserve, did a few little wheelies, let some buddies ride it, washed it, took pictures of it. hahaha, i love toys with motors.

I wouldn't do that! You need to run it at 24:1... that thing will always be screaming.

and I have always had a soft spot for Banshee's. I love em

yeah the dealerhip said it would be okay and i am doing a little research at a banshee forum and they seem to run anywhere from 50:1-32:1. mostly 32:1just to keep the air/fuel ratio within spec.

have you ever ridden a banshee? i have always loved these quads but never knew anyon that had one to let me try. this thing friggin rips and i am still babying it.

I have ridden one lots of times. When I was 14-15, I had a warrior, and my friend's uncle had a banshee. I love that thing.

the warriors are cool cause they got reverse. The Banshee doesn't turn very tight unless you throttle it, then it turn right around lol. Here is another picture of it. it is so nice, i miss it, i wanna ride it again, can't wait to get back home from working out of town so i can go play.

nice quad.....i was a big fan of the banshee for a long time untill i grab the bars of a YFZ450.i like the banshee for the zippyness and the twang of the engine but now adays i can't find a good place to ride where i can open up those 2 strokers.i myself picked up one heck of a deal on a 04 YFZ450 that only has maybe 10 hours of yard riding for only $2500.being it is 4 stroke i can put around on the hills without overheating.

here is a pic

Banshee's rock I have never owned one but I have rode them. we took a trip to florence oregon one year and did the dune thing the baddest climber there was a honda 250r with a fatcat conversion single rear tire nothing could touch it dirtbikes buggy's nothin. I bought a new 250r every year they made them 1980 to 1986 that was a sad day when the ATC was banned. now I am showing my age huh lol

i raced a buddies raptor 660 down the road and our top speed is identical. we never lined them up but i think he would have taken me because he has better tires that get traction. i was letting my tires loose in 6th on the wet cold pavement so i don't think i would be able get going. next dry warm day we will line them up and see. i just put a smaller motor sprocket on saturday so now my top speed is lower than his. I like my quad better than his raptor even if it is 20 year old technology.

ANT

Just ride
you need toomey T5's no questions asked. it will be an animal and sound awesome. something about them they make for great hillclimb bikes. one thing i dont like about banshee's, and all of them do it, is their kickstarter gets a little play after a while and they rattle so loud it drives me nuts.

i think i will upgrade the tires and shocks before pipes. It is fast enough as it is for now and would rather get the power down before going faster. i hear the T5's are the pipes to be blowing smoking with.
