Talked to Shawn this morning. Ride is not looking good. It may be weeks before homeowners can even enter the Island. If anyone has see some of the shots on the news, Bolivar and Galveston are pretty FUBAR before IKE even gets here. 20 miles offshore they had 20 foot surf, already. And the storm surge hasn't even gotten here. Shawn spent all last night empting the house and moving boats and skis. Like he said, thats what insurance is for.

booo!! I hate Ike!!! More to come I am sure. But Bolivar has lost power already and the water supply has been shut-off as of now.:smashfreakB:

We may have to cancel the freeride & reschedule it as a "help Shawn clean-up" weekend. I'm with you....I hate Ike. :pokey:

Oh, the only good thing - I get paid for staying at home.

Yeah it sounds like it is looking bad down there - especially on the crystal beach area. Good news is I still have power in central Houston.

11:30p: Hurricane Ike is 40 miles off the coast of Galveston, but this strong Category 2 storm is already making an impact on the region. Galveston Mayor said the island's West End is completely under water, and that includes homes, docks and boats. There are reports from Crystal Beach that some residents who failed to heed evacuation orders are now stranded on rooftops as the water rises. Rain is falling at the rate of 2 inches an hour in some Houston-area communities. The entire area is under a tornado watch. locations. (KHOU-TV)

1a: The eye of Hurricane Ike is 20 miles from the coast of Galveston. Eyewall winds — the strongest component of the Category 2 storm — have reached Galveston and the Bolivar Peninsula. Five people who were stranded by floodwaters on top of a lumber company building in Crystal Beach managed to get to safety in an adjoining building. (KHOU-TV)

It does look bad.

As long as Penguin and everyone else is OK, I'm happy.

Messes can be cleaned up and stuff can be replaced...

Moonie got a Big Texas welcome from IKE

Bolivar Peninsula wiped out, boat access only, IF they let you in.

I know we didn't get the water, but we got the wind, over 1/2 of the people in Louisville are without power, including us. I'm on my laptop through my cell phone. They're telling everyone to expect no power for a week.

I'm at work. been here 15 almost 16 hours. Major issues with power and cooling. Still no power at the house as of tonight. My parents got it back so family is there. Fridge and freezer got put on the genie today, finally. My neighbors tree is laying on my garage roof but doesn't appear to have damaged it. Going to bed on the floor of the office. Fun! Curfew is in affect, so stuck here for the night.
