This time TOM21 and WAVEDEMON had nothing to do with it.... :poke:

Two couchers riding with out vests, get pulled over by popo, get ticket, then go to leave and get ejected off the ski. Classic.

2 Teens Hurt When Watercraft Explodes In Clearwater

Published: August 24, 2008
Two teens were injured Sunday afternoon on the Intracoastal Waterway in Clearwater when the personal watercraft they were riding exploded, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Tiffany M. Davis, 16, and Heather N. Davis, 19, both of Clearwater, were taken by ambulance to Morton Plant Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, deputies said.
The teens launched the 1999 Polaris personal watercraft near the Seminole Boat Ramp in Clearwater about 12:30 p.m. A patrol deputy with the sheriff's marine unit stopped the watercraft at marker No. 17, just north of the Memorial Causeway Bridge, because the teens were not wearing lifejackets, the sheriff's office said.
After they were given a citation, the teens tried to re-start the personal watercraft. The deputy tried to help them by steadying the teens' watercraft, but the vessel exploded without warning, the sheriff's office said.
The blast knocked the teens into the water. The deputy was shaken but not injured. He managed to pull the teens on his patrol boat as the burning personal watercraft drifted nearby, the sheriff's office said. The 23-foot patrol boat was not damaged in the explosion.
The U.S. Coast Guard was notified of the incident and deputies continue to investigate. The personal watercraft eventually sunk near the edge of the channel and it did not appear to be leaking fuel, the sheriff's office said.

That is a bad day.

I can't even imagine not wearing a PFD on a PWC.

Can't even begin to imagine going riding in the ocean with a passenger and no PFD's?

Its a Polaris ,not worth the trouble even if it was free and on dry land.

it's just a joke because it's like in my back yard.. my friends and i have salvaged several boats that just leave the boat ramp, catch fire of sink.

Why would the popo's let the kids back on the ski to even start it ? did the popo's provide temparary life preservers so they could drive it back to shore ?? Interesting ! sounds like Popo's screwed -up

I was thinking the same thing about letting them go without jackets. I thought why didn't they get them into the boat & tow the ski back to where ever they came from.

Kind of like letting a drunk driver back into his car to drive home...ok not as bad, but same type of logic. But it does make sense about interpretation of the law. I think that may be true anywhere though.

And yes, where were the parents?

it's kinda like the new launch spot I've been using. I get no hassle then some of the guys try to use it and the cops tell them to go away even though the sign clearly says you can launch there.

I REALLY HATE patrol cops on the beach, they don't know what they're talking about and only come by to get easy ticket quotas.

That will teach the marine patrol to watch out for the suicide jet-ski bombers. :skull2:

If they want to give citations they better start wearing body armor.

Thats prob the only reason the cops let them on their way w/o lifejackets, because they were girls! Dereliction of duty IMO
