Went riding 2 weeks ago, ran great with zero problems. Got home, pulled off the hood and let it sit. Went to the lake the next week to find a no fire-no spark problem. Full charge on the battery, good clean connections around, good fuse, good brain box (jetinetics TL ignition). I ohmed the plug wires and they seem to be good, checked all grounds and they are good so I tried doing some testing on the coil. The one lead that is "always on" has 12 volts going into the coil, the other lead "signal lead" also seems to have 12 volts constant even with the ignition turned off. So I pulled the lead off to find slight power going into the ring terminal on the lead when the ignition is on but even when disconnected from the system the "signal" terminal on the coil has a constant 12 volts coming out of it. Does this mean my coil is fried and the power and signal coils are fused running constant power throughout or should the signal terminal always have power coming from it?

coil usually has constant 12v going to it.the other wire goes to ground when the cdi tells it to for spark.
if you disconnect the grounding lead, you will have 12v at that terminal on the coil.

Okay, so that terminal is suppose to have 12v to it. So I that should mean the coil is good. I am stumped on what to check next then, I am 99.9% sure that the brain box is good...the whole setup was running amazing just 2 weeks ago and I changed nothing and touched nothing and now have no spark.:dunno:

I am hopefully going to try and test my start stop switch tonight...not putting it out of the question but it switch is only a couple years old on a freshwater ski but I will check it regardless.

Finally got a chance to dig into it deaper (and a little cash in my pocket) and found the MSD coil had hatched like an egg. It was split wide open about 60% of the way around. Went to the HD dealer and picked up a Screamin' Eagle coil and it runs amazing.
