Help with SN handpole switch to RN

I got matt_e's old rn handpole off his square with bracket and all and I am trying to install on my square and have a question.... How does one get the front of the hood to stay down, the old bracket has the little hooks that the hood slides under but the new one there is nothing... Any ideas?

I was afraid I was gonna hear that...looks like you are pimpin a square as well, there is two metal blocks that look like they are gonna be right in the way... You dont have a pic do you?

dude...after your first post, I walked outside... snapped a few pics of my half azzed relocated hooks...

and then realized my main PC is down.. im on my laptop no card reader.
I can post them tomorow from work.

Im pretty sure ive posted them before though, look for some threads about RN poles on SN boats.....

YES, the brackets on the SN hood will get moved outward.

the brackets on the hull will get moved also.. put them where ever they will FIT

Chris,

The hoodhooks on the hull side go on the outside of the pole bracket.
Take a look at the backing plate for the bracket I sent you. There are mounting holes on the outside.
Just drill four new holes in the hull, and mount the hull-side hooks.
Then relocate the hood-side hooks to the right spots.
It's pretty easy.

Cool, I pulled the hardware off the hood tonight, looks like the new bracket is about 1/4-1/2 inch to low, should i stick another plate under the bracket to get the base of the pole to clear the front of the hood...when i stuck that piece of metal under the bracket it sat nice...Think I need a new seal, and my hood was never sitting right from the get go. This little adventure should help seal the water out I hope. Looks easy, nice lookin square oxnard realllly clean on the outside

What do you mean, the bracket is too low? :dunno: Too low for what?
It worked fine with a stock hood on the Square I had it on.
You shouldn't need to raise the bracket.

I set up a mock version last night after I had the hood hooks off and set the pole and bracket on there and when the pole comes down the first place it touches is the start of the hood and its prolly less then 1/4 " I tried moving the setup more towards the front of the ski but still just barely catches by a hair, the rn stuff is quite a bit narrower then the old sn stuff. This is gonna be sweet when i get it all installed.

My handle pole bracket mounting area on my square sags/droops really bad, so bad that the hood and hood seal don't seal in the front. Maybe Christopher's bracket mounting area is sagging a lot like mine does and that is the reason a spacer plate is needed to stop the pole from touching the front top of the hood.

I don't know, just a thought.

Not the best pictures, but you can see what I mean in the pictures here

Put a nice, thick pole pad on the hood. At least one inch thick.
