Im new to this site, and love all the info. I'm thinking about getting into the racing scene on an '04 SJ either in the stock or limited class. What are the must haves that I need on my SJ in order to get into racing. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

an SXR...

j/k

you are at a disadvantage from the get go. SXR is a far superior race ski and it takes a lot to make a SJ hang w/ them.

impeller
intake grate
ride plate
tubby 2 sponsons
shortened pole

Get an 08, I watched Tim Grey hang with a Hydrospace at the races, the 08 as a limited (stock class) was just a tad slower on the backstretch, but he could reel him in around the bouy's.

hey, you asked for it.... he he he

seriously though.... Ask any racer and they will tell you a similar tale.
Super Jets are great freeride and freestyle skis for a reason, they are lighter and looser...

Have you ridden an SXR???

If not take a rip around some buoys and you will see how much better they are.

I appreciate it. I may have to pawn this one off on my other half and have a good excuse for an SXR. We'll see how that goes!

with the APBA rules, you can do several things to a SJ 96-07 to make them competitive in stock class. As far as limited goes, the SXR or Hydro will win out everytime unless you are a hell of a rider.
