ok, Eric Fox and I were working on my ski tonight and noticed my bilge pump was just floating around in my ski!! I used 5200 to glue my bilge in with the first time, and it came loose.. Now I didn't sand and clean the area first... which is prolly why It came loose. Should I just sand and try it again? OR is there something better like jb weld or an epoxy??

get a u shaped piece of scrap metal, and a worm gear clamp. worm gear the blige to the alumnum on one side of the u, and drill a hole through the other side and mount it with the bolt for the midshaft

i sanded then cleaned hardcore and haven't had a problem. I also did it in about 50 degrees i think the sand/clean is pretty important

adhesion is all about cleanlieness and surface area , clean it , rough sand the hull and pump ''40 grit'' , 5200 it ! going on 2 years and no trouble yet

Best luck I have had is the Liquid plastic welder.
it comes in like a double tube that looks like a double saringe. (sp)

it cures in like 5 minutes. I load the bottom of the plastic piece
then hold it down till its cured...

after i zip tie threw the base over the top of the bildge when cliicked in.
I have been doing this for years, and you know i give a whoompin on them.

I hope that makes sense... :brap:

Its like this, but homedepot, or local hardware store version.
most of them are the same, but i think that is the one
i have gotten in the past..

stuf rocks. just clean and sand surfaces...

I think for the bildge application, 5200 does not work well !

5200 is made by 3M. I have used it on my bildge pumps without an issue for years. Just make sure it is preped well.

That welder drys in like 5 minutes though.

And that is about my extents before ADD kicks in full force ! :dunce:

I've used the marine 2 part epoxy in the double syringe and it worked fine. 40 grit on the hull, scraped my bilge pump on my driveway, cleaned both surfaces with acetone, gooped it up and bingo.
