couch opinions

any x4 based seadoo hull is a blast
prefer the one with an 800cc
it's fast, and fun for one rider, it can be ridden 2 up as well and is stable.
and still in my opinion it was the best ski seadoo evermade.

They only sold the x4 with a 800. That is a great engine and certainly nothing to avoid, seadoo or not. The 951 is a different story but, if you ask me, you can't get them in a hull that's worth a damn anyways.

the 800 was a special edition. and i believe it is ported different from the 1996 version. only in 1996 did the 800 become standard. that motor is near bullet proof and very strong

You can even get a slightly used Honda for $3.5K. Check out the Honda forum at http://www.pwctoday.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18 , I haven't been there in a while though...

Sorry dude, the x4 started in 95 with the limited edition xp800. The previous years looked the same but were not x4 hulls. There is some good reading on this here. Look for Bill O's posts on the second page that really clear this up. It's a common misconception...

you can pick up an older 1200STX for that price. I have an '06 for the family. we ski, tube, everything behind it. 4-stroke (pia for repairs but thats why I extended) so great gas mileage. I go through maybe a tank over a weekend doing everything.

I had a 96 Seadoo xp800 that I rode my kid around on, but sold it to get a Blaster II. The Blaster II is a fun machine and can ride 1 great and 2 just as easily as a XP. I just wanted all Yamaha, so i sold the Xp. Its way easier to maintain, more reliable, and uses less gas.

man why did they have to stop making "fun" couches after the 90's?? anything in the early '00's? this is for a relative that wants to spend $3k to $4k for a reliable 2-seater..don't need to pull a tube or boarder, just want to be able to hit some wake and turn well.

I have to go with a Seadoo XP-SPX with the 787 engine,those are damn near indestructable and a blast to ride current market price is around $2500.00 in my area.

I thought that the XP handled fairly well and stil had decent power.

They make awsome power, and personally I would never consider a Blaster 2. THEY ARE TURD BUCKETS!

96 yr XP's are bad as hell. And if anyone say's they are not, then they have never been to a race! Awsome power, bad arse handling, and still under 400lbs.

Im another vote for a XP for what you described.

Blasters (B1's) are kinda fun for about 30 minutes on flatwater.... They are fun to role in the surf for about a 1hr, Then I get bored ( But I may have ADD)

I would rather have a 60mph XP to go blaze airboat trails by my house, and pull a tube or wake skate (though its not legal, must have three seats). But that is just my opinion

Dont plan on 2 up riding on a B1.

Or just buy a couple more standups and tell you familly and friends its cool, and everyone is doing it. NOW LEARN :biggrin:

I was about to recommend a 2002 XP, but I did not because of the everyone's hate for the 951 powered sea-doos here (not that I care, honestly).
The 2002 XP had the most reliable carbed 951 in it, no DI, a blast to ride in the ocean in any conditions.

i have never owend a blaster 1 or 2, but from what i have read 2 would be your best choice, BUT, i still think XP would be a much more fun Couch....

my family has a pretty good couch combo imo. XP/Waveraider 701. The waveradier is a mule pulling stuff/handling chop and guest couch riders love the xp because it's "athletic." :lol: I think the blaster might have too steep a learning curve if it's just for guests. youdon't want some noob drumming up organ donors on an ultra.

i'll hand over a man card an vote for the xp.
