Has any one tried mouting these so that they will release if you wreck hard? I want to install a set on my ski but don't want to end up with torn ligaments in my knees or ankles. McMaster sells stainless snaps, they even have self tapping/drillling ones. These would make the install easy and all the hardware would cost under $15 + some 5200 for a pair. The only draw back is having to buy the tool and die for $25. Does this sound like it would work out? I figure one side of strap would release before the other so you wouldn't loose them.

Interesting idea. I am going to try a strap or two this summer. I just don't use the holds like i used to. Let us know how it goes. :bigok:

i would be worried about them turning loose when you didnt want them to. i have used a couple sets and if you get them fitted right ive never had a problem falling out just get your toes in there no more.

when straps are setup foothold style it worries me. then again you can get stuck with footholds too.
i got my straps setup perfect, hold in great and get out without thinking about it. dont go over the arch of your foot and your good to go!
