yup.... it finally happened

WTF!?

explain, please?

ahhhhhhhhh, alright..

well, started off as going to go for a 10 minute ride on my new to me 03 DRZ400s

then I though, hmm..ill fill up and take a cruise along the intracoastal and hit some twisty roads....

then I spotted this nice little park with a trail leading down to the water....it was low tide and there was all kinds of stuff to look at

so I hit it, take a few "laps" and decide..."1 more"

well, followed a deer trail..made a wrong left turn and found myself in quickmud...didnt even realize it at first, but I made it the first 30 feet and fell short literally by 2-3 feet..had there been some momentum, it owuldnt have been an issue

I wrestled trying to get the bike out of it myself ofr about 30 minutes (mind you, Im in mud up to my KNEES trying desperately not to lose my shoes due to the freaking OYSTER BEDS that are everywwhere..)

I had forgotted my cell phone, couldnt rmember any of my boys #'s nor my GF's....

its getting dark and the tides coming in...the bike is slowly SINKING in the mud.....about this time the mud is well over the cases and cyl..the water is about 6 feet from the bike by now..

I go knock on the only door around with a light on and its an 85+ y/o couple...they let me use a phone and I was able to get butti on the line after another 30 mins...

by the time he gets there we are BARELY able to fit his truck thru the gate posts (no vehicular traffic)

we are able to drag it out pretty easily with the truck, but for awhile there I really thought I was ********ed and the bike was toast....

a wrecker would not hgave been able to make it down there, nor would they even have attempted...

the only way to really have gotten it out was with 1000' of rope, and drag it from the road....

2 minutes after we got it out, it starts raining....I haul azz home, notice a car already punching in the gatecode for my gated community...so, I skitch in front of it and go thru the gates...

it was a cop :sad6:

he was very cool though, nnoticed that my bike and myself was covered head to toe in mud...I told him there was a slight incident and was just trying to get home asap...

he said he was just making sure I lived there and to have a good night!:icon16:

thanks again john! :hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail::hail:

that wasnt moto, that was stupidity....I absolutly LOVE riding the muddy slop, but I shall no longer do it within 3 feet of the ocean :)

100,000 gallons of water and 3 simple green baths and she's good as new.....

I hope my new Xmetal sweatshirt that I got at the freeride fares as well :headbang:

Not trying to put a damper on your ride, but you will save your self some headaches and money later on if you do this now. go get a tub of Bel Ray waterproof grease. use that and only that. the job sounds worse than it is. you can do it in an afternoon with a 6 pack or so.

the incident you described is one of the reasons I HATED my drz. it was too big and heavy for serious trail work. but for a DS bike I really dont think you could get a much better bike. I miss mine at times, but only as a commuter or for bombing fire roads. for single track I wouldnt trade my punkin for anything.

Maybe in a few weeks when I'm down I can gather up you and slutty and a few others to go ride some trails.

cool...yeah, i know the drz is heavy...but it is my FIRST bike and I got it for a SMOKING deal..

03, 800 miles, chick ridden, garage kept, trail tires... 2800 bucks and it was 5 minutes from my house..

with that situation I was in, NO BIKE couldd have been rescued alone.....even a pit bike, fo real..

before I found this DRZ I had been looking at 400/450 exc's......Probably ride this a year or so, then try to get rid of it for what I paid and get something different..

hit up the crew though next time youre coming down, we'll take you to some of the funknastiest trails in FLA

if thats your plan, DO NOT dump any money into it. I did that and ended up not getting 1 cent more for mine than I would have stock. and there as NOTHING stock about mine.

idok, sounds like you need to upgrade.

i think the drz (we also call them dog rooters here in new zealand) make a great trail bike . good power for the trails but just a tad to heavey. i even saw one hole shot a moto over here last weeknd

hey saki my yami had one off those metal things on it but it fell off , the way i have my wr set up at the moment id take it over a yz anyday off the week .
well i am looking for a yz tank for it but other than that

Yeah I am gonna get me a WR450 in another year. I just want to trail ride and cruise to work.

Edwin you must have not broken anything bad yet racing MX. I never did but my best friend did his leg in. I know Bob took a lick to the ground last year. I just don't want to be 50 and in pain while I am trying to walk around every day. I still love to ride but racing MX is just wanting to break a bone. It comes with the territory.

so how does the new ktm go slutty . im guessing by now you have had a chance to ride it . update time

no woods riding yet. I lost my job the day after I got it, so that kinda puts a damper on things. I did install the brake light switch, front hi-beam switch flush the rear brake system and bleed it, and put my temp tag on it.. It is 100% street legal now... I road it down to the beach yesterday (first time on the road) it felt awesome... I really can't wait to ride in the woods.
