The Official 66e freestyle/freeride thread

the 66e powerplant is catching on like wildfire. I just picked one up and cant wait to get going with it!

ANYTHING 66e related can be posted here! :fing02:

First question..What kind of domes and compression should I be looking for with a freeride application? What's the stock head compression for a 66e?

I just picked up a 66e with a RIVA head 41cc domes....what compression will these produce?

well, I picked one up locally in a straight up parts trade....

the specs on this motor:

.5 over
RIVA head 41cc domes
RIVA gas powervalves
stock electronics

I got GP800 motor mounts in the deal as well..

I also got the flywheel from a 66e total loss system, and he says he has the rest...just cant find it right now..

Going to go with Jeffs exhaust.....He said he would make me one that would fit both the REV as well as the F1 pro

nice. you could sell those gas valves to recover some of the exhaust cost. the electric valves are supposed to make smoother power.

Most already know but I will be using a stock 66E with Jeffs exhaust and intakes with dual 46mm Mikunis and Speedwerx power valves. My Boat will be strictly flatwater as that is local. Bored out SJ pump with a skat 15/20 already

idork... i race one of these motors.

keep the gas valves they make for a nice hit and there is no pause with the electric valves and there is less stuff to break and they are adjustable depending on the springs in the valves.

i know on the 35cc domes in the heads it produced 185 compression so it was borederline pump and race gas.

the total loss or a riva adjustable cdi would be the way to go with that motor as far as ignition goes

i think a single carb would choke that thing but that is just me.... i ran dual taper bored 48's that gave me plenty of bottom end brapp...

Dumb question,

How reliable are the 66E's in the surf? Seem like the best bang for the buck platform. What is the fuel consumption compared to a 701? (both stock, slightly higher compression and piped)

definatly keeping the gas valves.....I'd like to run about 165/170 psi, what is stock???????

going with stock electrics for now...shelving the TL until i get all the parts..

I think a single carb would be fine...I have seen peeps running stroked lameys with more displacement on a single..

Problem is, NOONE that ive ever seen makes a single mani for it....there's really never been a reason for it until now

Gas valves are the only way to go on these.
The stock servo powered ones were a pain and slow to recover when the pump unhooks.

One day all my GPR stuff will be worth a fortune. :Banane19:

The electric ones seem to drop often. Most of the time it isnt too pretty either

Any PV can drop if the stem breaks.

That isn't quite true.
Stock PV used to drop mainly due to operator error.
They do require periodic cleaning and the cables need to be adjusted. The pin that holds them in can work it's way out but there is a cure for that problem plus in mid '01 the blades were redesigned slightly.

Any thoughts on this setup:
Stock 66E
WDK Pipe
WDK Intakesw/46mm Mikunis
Bump compression 165-170?????
Lightened Flywheel
MSD Enhancer
Speedwerx gas PVs

Seems as if this would be the limit in keeping simple reliability with retarded power??
How well is a bored and blueprinted SJ pumpw/skat 15/20 going to do with that?
Put that in a 70lb hull with a 5'9" 175lb rider!

it would be easy to make. I was looking at my kawi 650 intake, it's just a U with a whole and a flange at the top. no blending or divider at the carb. really simple. you could do the same thing but with bigger diameter mandrel bent pipe.
