I saw lots of rear rails getting cracked on vertical landings in the shallows. We need a carnage theread, BTW.

One of the best mods is to put on a stainless tow hook on the bottom of the hull, under the nose. Even if you knock off the nose you can still get pulled in. Also, it keeps the nose high so it does not nosedive when being towed.

I ride up and ask, do you have a tow rope......
When the answer is "NO" I usually say "The surf will push you in" Unless it's going off the hook.

When I go down, I get MY LINE ON FIRST for anyone willing to tow me in. That's the way it is.

a smart thing to do, and this is really only gonna help if everybody has loops front and rear is to have a 3' piece of rope tied into a giant loop, and clip 2 "D" rings to them and attach to your vest, when you ski breaks down, unclip the loop and hook to your ski then when your buddy comes up and it only takes a second to hook up to him.

These are the best hooks and fastest to use hands down - I found the standard beeners have a sharp edge that snags and frays the line, not a big deal but it irks me so this is what I prefer.
Make your line so it wraps twice around your waist snugly and wear it like a belt...Secure the ends to the hook with a bowline knot.
You will have to readjust it after a couple of tows with a simple overhand knot till the line finishes stretching.

I towed someone in, we didnt use a rope. he just sat on the rear of my ski and held on to his sj. I had a bow loop and a rope on board.

I honestly didn't have a rear loop because I didn't feel confident enough in my riding abilities, both in towing someone in and getting tangled up in the loop. I'll add one soon.

I only had a front loop because Tom made me put one on. I tried to stay in the shore break so I could surf/walk in the 50 times I broke down.

I did offer a tow, but neither of us slackers had a tow rope... and that is the part that IS required. hah.

Ihop, with statements like that you'll find yourself riding alone. You keep riding safe and you'll never need a tow. We like to push the envelope.

Your not making any friends here. Rotaxgrenade is an experienced surf rider and his Yamaha might break down in the rough surf due to water injestion or motor mount breakage. . . . this happens when you do backys.(like he can)

Stricky says it best: If you cant beat me you cant teach me.
Dont recomend to people not to have tow loops, It makes you sound dumb and ignorant. You dont want them?Keep it to yourself.
I'm promoting safty here.

LMAO, You people take the internet too seriously. I was just making a joke about the dudes name... I have been riding jersey surf for over 9 years and yes I do push myself. This is not worth arguing over. I am sure rotaxgernade is a cool dude and I am sure I will rip with him in the future.. BTW I can do backeys too :moon:

and didn't I give you some rope for that as well???? where was it? not around your waist where it should have been.

I agree with gramps- if you don't have the decency to put a loop on- why should I risk getting popped between two skis in the surf to get your dumbasss out? be prepared or suffer for it.

if you are hurt then that is something entirely different- I will drag your carcass back no matter what.

Honestly I never saw anyone near me break down or get towed in for the 4 days I was there.
