So, in theory, if you created a vacuum in the tray it would float better?

Yes.
The weight of that tray volume is calculated as volume*mass density.

Obviously, a mass density of zero (vacuum) will result in the least weight. :439:

I have a helium tank here at work. Maybe your on to something. I could fill up some atv tubes with helium and put them back there. You're right though. I might end up doing forward flips!
Watch.....someone will go and try this now :)

I've always wanted to try helium in the tubes in my dirt bike but never tried..HA i'm going to start a thread in the mx section.

Geeze, all this smart people jibber is making me feel :trink26:

GSO, there is no need to waste your time with that experiement. :noevil:

Quite a few surf sluts watched my foamless boat loose its hood.... and then have a 6ft wave crash over it.... down it went for the 2nd time... proving that a decently sealed boat with no foam will float as good as any boat with foam. I was evne pushing down as hard as I could on the tray.... not a chance of the boat going under for good:Banane36:

Everyone use to think I was crazy for running no foam, saving weight, whatever.

I cant weight to see some reactions at Daytona with my Freeride creation :eek2: Say good by to the standard of Roles, and Backflips.

I'm almost tempted to try it, I'm just worried about the loss of strength. I'm a noob to flips and rolls, and I will be dropping it on it's side a bit. Would heavy reinforcing be good enough?

It's good enough for the front half, isn't it?. :Banane19:

I'm thinking about just putting foam under the tray, but not in the sides. I'll reinforce the sides, but I'm afraid I'll need the foam to keep from cracking the bottom tray from standing/landing on it. Any opinions on that?

Do some light reinforcing on the area where your feet go as well.... I layer of 12oz biaxel would be more then enough.... THe lower hulls on these boats are much stronger then the upper's. Reinforce the back portion of the boat the same as you would the front of the boat, just like Matt Refered too.

Thxs Cracker im 99.9% sure its not going down so with you sinking yours in the surf saved me some pool time.Cant wait to see the new ski ( surf deck ) Going to drop in my Team Scream motor this week end and I should be good to go. Latter
