1st-I DID SEARCH-didn't find what I was hunting.

w/u guys turf frt bumper area, do you cut a straight piece and heat/mold it around the frt/or/do what I have been doing-trace the oem bumper out on turf and cut it out, there fore top surface of frt bumper is already lined up w/top deck? Iv'e seen some that looked like they were straight pieces heated/molded around.

I'm using black molded diamond

Thanks guys

you can use the OEM 'bra' as a template to cut a semi-circle and let the diamonds/groves run straight.

i prefer to heat and bend the turf around the front of the nose so the grooves/diamonds are making the same curve as the nose.

just cut a straight piece and include the "boop" for the bow eye in the same piece, instead of frankenturfing it. then heat and bend around the front lip for the cleanest look.

At nationals this year I saw some ski's done like u guys r talkin bout and assumed they used a azz load of heat to make the bend-I think yalls way looks alot cleaner than the way I have been doing it!

THANK YOU !!!

you didnt turf over that nice nosepiece taylor made ya did you???

only the top... he made me the one like his new one that doesn't go far up onto the nose... but covers quite a bit of the bottom. plus, the nose of my ski was sanded to shiot anyway from before... so i had to cover it...

He did? i thought he told me on the phone to use them? utoh... LOL

glad it's strong though... i can already tell the difference just in picking up the nose... she doesn't flex any more. :fing02:

so......to turf the front end of a ski(fx1 for me).....cut a straight 4 inch wide stripe of hydroturf, lay down contact cement, wait 15 minutes, apply stripe of turf and use heat gun to bent it around the front end curve?

The heat gunt makes the turf so dam hot that you can barely hold onto it sometimes, also I dont really understand how it will make it be able to make a drastic bend like that??

I just want to make sure it will work before I go slopping contact cement all over the front of my ski!

yeah, i usually will put two coats of contact cement on the ski, and 3 coats on the turf (allowing to dry between coats). Then start on the top side of the rail. pick a starting point and attach the turf. as you heat the turf with the heat gun you will be able to mould and stretch the turf to make the bend. once you have the entire top attached you can go back using the heat gun and pull the turf down to cover the lower part of the rail.

it's far easier than it sounds actually.
